Aussie not a cat in hell's chance, now i could see a LOCFA(League of Celtic Football Associations) but i don't believe joining forces with the unwashed over the severn would benefit our great nation one jot. We would be all traipsing up to wembley to see bale and maybe ramsey coming off the bench for our home games, i can see it now Wengland<laugh>. Whatever the outcome personally i am not a huge supporter of the FAW but they are our representatives at the top table at FIFA, and long may it continue. Why put ourselves up to be overtaken by Ingurland, that would be the end of Wales as a footballing nation.

Can i also remind you that it was not i who instigated the independence question on here i beleive that may have been valley.

    Over to you valley <laugh>

Dragon the English fa are currently taking advice from the FAW with regards to age range football which the FAW have been pioneering at the centre of excellence for the past 10years, although at the moment this is not bearing a great deal of fruit at the minute, over the next 10 to 15 years there will be a lot of youngsters coming through to our clubs and national team. The FAW are years ahead in developing youngsters in relation to a lot of the european nations.

I think we could be onto something. We wear white, think of the extra fan base and porential millions if we included a St Georges cross on our badge.

As I said valleyswan, the whole concept of unconditional support is a difficult one for people to accept in the success and money driven game of today. But, and I again I apologise for repeating myself, someone has to effect change and perhaps we can turn ourselves into a football supporting nation, afterall, it's only a few years ago that we were the best supported nation in Europe - so the support is there. I'm not sure that the expectation you talk about has always been there, but perhaps it's not a point worth getting bogged down over.

I totally agree regarding the expense and this is something that has to be addressed by FAW by being proactive with clubs and ground owners. Of course, they'll have more leverage if they have bigger attendances. A couple of loss leaders fully supported by a full and committed squad may go some way to start the change of ethos.

Incidently, and very remiss of me not to mention it earlier, thanks to the OP and all subsequent contributors for an excellent trhread and debate.

Have to go now, but I will revisit later.

    Thanks fellas. <ok>

Ha ha Mabon sorry if I'm sounding sceptical in this, but like many fathers with kids in the FAW youth set up, it's a bloody joke, and as for the English taking advice, well all I got to say is pity help them!.............. <laugh>

It was not too long ago Wales was the best supported national team in europe. if we can get a bit of success in the next world cup campaign , who knows, but for me whether they are crap or not my support for Wales is unconditional, as long as there is a team playing in the red of Wales i will support them.

clingo agree with your points in your last post<ok>

I read a piece this week by ossian roberts where he was talking about the youth set up and the centre of excellence, i pointed to you because i know that you had a lot of input in youth football with the boys.

My son was a really talented goalkeeper. The way he and other kids his age were treated by the FAW was truly shocking (Mark Bowen was in charge at the time and I've no time for him as a result). In the end my kid became disillusioned and he never played again. I know for a fact he wasn't alone.

    That's the FAW for you.

Says a lot about the state of British football then doesn't it ? Besides there was a world difference between these players managed by toshack than managed by speed wouldn't you agree ? Same players different ethos, now we have Coleman

I will support him till I see what's what, and then he'll either get my backing or otherwise Mabon, I can't stress enough how disappointing this appointment was for me, knowing Coleman's style of play at Coventry, and his opinionated views, then bringing Hartson in, doesn't bode well in my view!............ <ok>

I don't agree because without us being in the FA we won't be able to be in the premier league. And Mabon we are a part of the FA now, so obviously there is another option

And another thing, when we had a good spell under Hughes, more people watched Wales football than Wales Rugby team in those years.

We need to sort out the tw@ts that run the FAW not give up the team.

As an example of grass roots input, the FAW have a very low pass rate from me, seen their operations first hand, and as an example one of my sons was chosen for on field tactics for Andy Legs coaching badge, at Steboe Heath, I sat and watched with interest the whole boring hour or so, and was not impressed, I know that the FAW do a lot with developing coaching at top level up and down the country, but in practise it's not impressive, and I should imagine way behind Spain etc. To further this point my son was then asked to go to some FAW centre, either in Merthyr, or somewhere mid Wales can't remember now, but he was told that some top figures in the game would be there doing there coaching badges, including Martinez, his response was, not to answer the text message on his mobile, having had experience of three years playing in the Welsh Premier league FAW youth setup. So Mabon I could be here all night discussing the FAW, with loads of examples, man they are so out of touch, they are living in the dark ages! Truly sad to see Pro's having to work with such a useless governing body!...........<ok>

Valley Swansea are under the jurisdiction of the FAW, hence the fact that the FAW deal with any disciplinary measures, we are an associate member of the Football association, if Swansea were to get european football uefa would have to sanction it. and then only after the FAW have said they are happy for swansea to represent england in europe, it is not swansea's by right
