ONCE AGAIN WE SEE THE CYNISM OF THE RUSSIAN HEIRACHY.......
It has long been a worry that Russian troops .. under orders or otherwise would do EVIL things. There are so many warcrimes being committed that the onus seems to be "WTF" lets just add them to the pile and hope we outlive the prosecutor!

Blowing up a dam of such importance is pure evil ... for lives and property lost [ civilians ] .. a sting in the tail could be a lack of water in Crimea!! as there is a large canal/ supply channel from the Dnipro that flows into Crimea.
I would go along with the concensus that the Russians did it to avoid the railway/ road across the dam could be used for reinforcements or getting offense units across.

Will the the Crimea bridge be part of an attack on reclaiming Crimea ... stop a supply line of road and rail?

Storm shadows are bunker busters! .. the air bases on Crimea are fair game as is the dockyard for the Russian fleet ... now in the range! we know Ukranian pilots are masters of flying low a seaborne attack at a few hundred feet could effectively do a lot of damage.

now found a report .....Zaporizhzhia region.

Ukraine says Russia has targeted another dam - this time in the Zaporizhzhia region.
A spokesperson for the Ukrainian military, Valeriy Shershen, said Moscow's forces blew up the structure near the village of Novodarivka - leading to the flooding on both banks of the Mokri Yaly river.
The BBC has not been able to verify the claim.
Shershen said Russia was deliberately blowing up dams in the region to halt Ukraine's advance towards occupied areas.
Last Monday the huge Kakhovka dam was breached, causing major flooding. Ukraine's military and Nato accused Russia of being responsible, while Russia has blamed Ukraine.
Thousands of people have been evacuated from low-lying areas either side of the river Dnipro.

It makes perfect sense to me to capture valuable land and then flood it to make it useless. <doh> Criminal acts indeed but also stupid.

They really are getting desperate. It’s becoming more and more difficult to come to any agreement that doesn’t involve Putin being removed from power.

It’s virtually civil war. Fascinating - and extremely dangerous times.

Lots of things going on in the background that we know f all about!! Apparently Lukashenko has left Belarus as well.
    Interesting times ahead.
I hope that some in the Russian high command can keep Putin from that big nuclear button.

Don't comment much if at all on this thread of yours, but firstly there is no way Wagner is attacking Russia. Secondly, there is no way Prigozhin has got this far without collusion with major players within the Russian State governance and internal security agencies.

Heads will roll at the top end of the Russian power pyramid and despite the attempt to target the defence minister and head of the armed forces for their inneptitude, Putin himself looks to be very vulnerable. Maybe not a straightforward coup in the real sense of the word, but certainly a seismic shift in the existing powerbase.

That could go either way, but the hope is that although Prigohzin the warmonger will be the catalyst for major change at the top, out of the whole ****storm comes some common sense regarding the Ukraine conflict which is only ever going to be solved by diplomacy rather than brute force.

Who the hell knows what's going on in the backrooms of Russian politics? This supposed revolt against Putin is questionable at best and open for so much speculation that we need to see how it plays out through the news over the next few days and weeks. Inner dissatisfaction with Putin has been rumoured for years and if the number of balcony falling deaths is any indication, combined with mysterious poisonings, perhaps the time for change at the top is the only way to stop this senseless aggression in Ukraine. Regrettably I see little or no way forward if Putin is replaced by another murderous thug whose sole intent is power and killing at the same level as we are experiencing right now. The balance of the way things are going may indeed change with this mini whatever it is, but I won't hold my breath until such time as the killing has stopped all across the board and life looks like returning to a more peaceful world.

there is a lot more people need to do / read / understand to grasp this situation, one of the reasons I have not formed an opinion at the moment. Prigozhin is not after Putin, he is currently making an attempt at highlighting the ineptitude of the war mongers ... OK PUTRID can be classed as a war warmonger he is in charge but some of Prigozhins comments are very interesting, but full intent of them not yet had an affect.

The army is mostly conscripts on the route who have elected not to fight in Ukraine so let them get on with it because they just want to get their time over and done with!

wagner troops in the Russian army... well considering most, excepting ex prisoners are non Russian that doesnt bode well for them? As for the prisoners well theyshould in many cases be behind bars and there is no guarantee for them or the regulars safety.. being in cahoots with robbers murderers etc could be a recipe for disaster.

big quetion is how long will PRIGOZHIN BE ALIVE! Russia is notorious for getting rid of people that are anti Kremlin OR do not toe the line. Clever move getting him to Belarus to knock him off and blame it Belarussin oppostion activists!

It could also be a ploy to get him to start a new front from Belarus.

that would not go down well at all ..could also have a shock and awe factor! Prigo says should have used the tactical atomic's ... well he is now in a country that has a load of them... placed there by Putrid I dont think the same rules govern these as inter continentals 2 keys pass word just when the general says use one they arm it and fire it .......

There are kinds of possibilities surrounding the disappearance of the Wagner leader but in whose court does the advantage lie? Could it be, as you say, the start of another line of attack through Belarus, or is it a plot by Lukashenko and Prigozhin to oust Putin and his thugs so as to replace them with their own version of hell? The dynamics have never been to the taste of most of us but the unlimited potentially dangerous scenarios that could be brought into play with these latest occurrences make me shiver to the bone, and when you think about the mayhem offered by any combination of the three murderers it might be even worse. The Russians have never been known for their nice cuddly ways, but rather for implementing terror and death upon their own population, so how on earth can we expect anything different from them at any time? They have sown the path of destruction in far too many places for us to sit back and let them run riot over other's sovereign territories, which they have already done without serious recourse from the West, unless we want the Iron Curtain to fall across Europe again and let Putin or his successor to continue toward proper war on a broader front. Why would Prigozhin choose Belarus as his haven because that makes me smell two rats and I'm not sure if any of the the two has a chance of benefitting European society in the long term. Beware the ide(a)s of balconies.

no sign of Prigozhin yet? He will have / should have a network of ultra loyal troops to be around him!
Regarding the seized money / if seized then that is only £1500+ for each "killed"
Also Russia must have been paying him something, these guys that run mercenary groups dont do it for free!

Exactly, they wouldn’t be mercenaries if they did it for free<laugh>

It confuses me this, I don’t think it’s the last we’ve heard of this. It doesn’t add up.
