A wide-ranging advertising campaign appears to have been launched in Russia urging citizens to join the military.
It comes as the Russian armed forces have reportedly been suffering heavy losses and struggling to make progress in Ukraine more than a year after invading it.
The Defence Ministry in Moscow released a video appealing to Russians to give up their civilian jobs in favour of a contract with the military.
The video features a supermarket guard, a fitness instructor and a taxi driver - all apparently disillusioned with civilian life and finding fulfilment after joining the army.
The video promises a monthly salary of at least 204,000 roubles ($2,500; £2,000), four times Russia's average. ...wow 4 times average wage .. problem is you will never get to spend it .... contract says sign up ... but cant leave till after war has finished!

Take it in line with the latest news that troops are sent in to fight and should they decide not to because they are facing a solid Ukranian armed position and have no cover so attempt to retreat they are shot by their own special groups of assassins!

    .......
Suffering from shell-shock and with one arm bandaged, the 37-year-old fired at the waves of Russian soldiers trying to storm his position. They didn't even try to take cover, but simply walked towards him across the open field.
It was clear Pavel wouldn't be able to hold the position for long, but he needed to buy time for a rescue team to arrive. His final action in life was to ensure his wounded comrades got to safety.
The Ukrainian military says Bakhmut is now the scene of many "unprecedentedly bloody" battles like this, where they now have to repel up to 50 attacks on their positions every day. Russia has concentrated massive forces in this area, and their brutal strategy of launching human wave attacks helps them to advance slowly - but at a very high cost.
Often these poorly trained soldiers are reportedly forced to keep pushing forward. The assault group Storm of the 5th Brigade of the Russian army said in a video appeal that they couldn't leave their position because of zagryad otryad, or blocking troops - detachments that open fire at their own men who try to retreat.

WAR CRIME AGAINST THE ENEMY and against Their own!

AT it again attacking civilian infra structure reporting says shot down 21 of 23 missiles and 2 attack drones so damage must have been via drone hits more than missiles .. retaliation for the "installed pro Russian " police chief! killed by resistance fighters?
there must be a real evil and I mean really grossly evil heirarchy of generals/ commanders to just attack civilians....

State-owned RIA news agency said Russia was aiming for the reserve units and used high-precision weapons on Friday.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the apartment block was among 10 residential buildings that were damaged in Uman.
well high precision weapons ... so it was a deliberate attack on civilian flats and houses . and not just a pin the tail on the donkey! Although maybe the operatives were the donkey's?

Precisely, if these were high precision and aimed only at military targets, I’d hate to see the damage to civilians if they’d used “dumb” weapons

The lies continue amid attacks on clearly what are civilian targets, rather like the one a year ago on a hospital that sustained many injuries and deaths. People whose sole intent is to sow destruction, death and fear usually form their logic based on porkies and idiotic theories, and when all else fails they turn their blame on to the victims. Ukraine continues to stand up for human rights and their right to sovereignty whilst Russia and Putin continue their savagery and murder without any reason other than their quest to oust all the Nazis sunbathing on the Black Sea coast. We need to keep up our support of the Ukrainian people until Putin and his thugs are put under the sword to pay for their crimes against humanity. The international stage should be closed to all things Russian and how on earth we sit by and accept the U.N. Security Council to be chaired by Lavrov beggars belief, especially when you consider that the biggest threat to world security has been asked to take centre stage in front of the rest of the world. Throw Sergei and the rest of his murdering cohorts out of the chamber and arrest them all on the way to the airport, and to hell with diplomatic immunity. They are all criminals and should be treated as such no matter what their arrests might cause.

At least Putin can look forward to having Donald Chump on his side in the not so distant future after his debacle of a "Town Hall Debate" on CNN last night. He openly stated that the U.S. backing of Ukraine would come to a full stop on his watch, and in fact he agrees with Putin that Ukraine needs to be taught a lesson, or maybe just half of it. We just have to hope that the the rest of the civilized West step up the ante in the support of democracy and I applaud the U.K. for sending serious missiles to beat back Russia. The supposed upcoming counter-offensive by Ukraine will have considerably more updated weaponry including various airplanes and leopard tanks to boost their intent to drive backed ill-equipped and poorly trained Russian troops who apparently are like rats up a drainpipe when the merest of attacks come their way. Unless Putin gives up the ghost there will come a day when a slight miscalculation could lead to catastrophe beyond our imagination.

Let’s hope either the Ukrainian war is over by then, if not let’s hope Trump doesn’t get in, actually either way let’s hope Trump doesn’t get in again, the man’s a liability.

Far less of a liability than the brain dead current incumbent who doesn't seem to know who he is or where he is whenever he's in front of a camera

There is no way on earth that Biden is actually the President, nor is he running the country, or making any key decisions. He's simply a puppet, whose approval ratings are currently at 36%.

Police forces across the country have been defunded due to BLM/Floyd and crime and murder is at an all time high. Wonder why ?!

Under the Democrats, an estimated 20 million people may have crossed the US southern border, which is basically left open. Just like here, the vast majority are undocumented and pose a serious threat to national security.

Trump wanted $5bn to build the 'great big wall' to keep the illegals out, but was told that America couldn't afford it. Yet suddenly the Democrats can find $100bn (and counting) to support Ukraine. Probably because the Bidens, Clintons, Obamas and co have massive personal interests there that they are desperate to protect.

Zelenski has a $35m house in Florida and many other residencies in America.

Donald Trump is a very flawed human being but he can see things that others deny and he loves America which is the opposite of most lefty woke Democrats
He was ridiculed for telling Germany not to rely on Russian Gas in 2018- then what happened !
He was accused of being racist when he called Covid the China virus and the mainstream media said it couldn’t possibly have come from there. Now even the FBI are saying that it probably did
He would also give us a great trade deal whereas Biden doesn’t like England at all
    Etc etc

He also has desires to turn the U.S.A. into an autocracy with him pulling all the strings. I will somewhat agree that he has made some true statements in his early days but he lacks everything good needed to be a world leader. He has insulted most of his international counterparts and how on earth CNN gave him just the stage he needed to promote all of his idiotic theories is beyond belief but they thought they could grab the reins of bad journalism from Fox News. Living in Canada I shudder what devastation his presidency could inflict on Canada because he will treat us as an enemy and activate policies designed to undermine all things Canadian, rather like Putin (his supposed best mate) is doing in Ukraine. The man should be in show business and not politics.

Canada is another matter, but Trudeau has plenty of people saying what a shocking job he’s doing, like the Democrats in the USA
And Biden has any noticeable qualities at all ? As I said, there is no way he is a credible leader of the free world. He needs an autocue to tell him when to dit down
Totally embarrassing as a world leader and the bigger joke is that they have no one to replace him with.
If he does have any qualities they are well hidden
He and Harris, who is even more unpopular than he is, are a bad joke and a laughing stock on the world stage

I must admit the age factor is a serious issue in American politics, no matter what strip, and Biden should not run for another term. Harris as V.P. has been a total non-event and the thought of her being made the Prez by default would not be a good thing for anybody. Where are all the young people when it comes to high office all over the world because they are the future and therefore should join the club now if they want to have any say in the way things are run.

On the main topic of the thread I see that Lukashenko is suspected of being seriously ill due to his non-appearance at a recent big meeting and would rather hope his demise would bring a slightly different situation to the table in regard to the war in Ukraine. If ever the Belarus people truly wanted to shed the control of Russia over their country this should be the ideal opportunity with Putin busy with his special murdering operation in another place. We can but hope and speculate on where things will go from here but it looks from my viewpoint that the updated weaponry being supplied by the West is starting to be counted with the Russians and their Wagner friends running for the hills.

WELL been away for a few days and not really caught up! Did see the attack so called on the Kremlin that looks like a amatuerish attempt at joining bits together as where is the damage!
Lukashenko, who takes over if he snuffs it? is the most important aspect. Belarus has a very large anti government following. Putrid would not delay in putting someone of his choosing into his place ... maybe civil war transpires! The army could take control and the generals assume control but the people will not want that either! An election well that would be rigged or overseen by pro Russian supporters and like the last deaths and pro Russian getting the job!
GOING TO BE A MESS whatever happensLithuania is Russia's route to KALININGRAD through Belarus. Belarus and Lithuania have an agreement which allows certain Russian goods through Belarus as well as Belarussia goods to reach the port so any takeover by Russia by proxy would really set the cat amongst the pigeons................

How cynical is the Russian stance on this conflict.... they decide to time a missile strike at the same time as the Ukranian EURO ACT TAKES THE STAGE, continues through it and ceases just after it ...target was civilian!
Not fully up to speed to Bakmuht and change of events
The missiles we are sending arent that big, when couriering for MOD saw one on display at Filton and also took unarmed [ no warhead ] un fuelled ones [ been on tests ] from xxxxxxxxxxx to ISLE xx xxxxxxxxxx!!!!!!
Germany ramping up anti, how many other countries keeping stum about what they are sending ... Finland especially!

Firstly my congratulations go out to the U.K. for stepping up with serious weaponry to aid Ukraine's defence of democracy which may be a sign of major European nations running a little scared at the potential loss of U.S. support given the dicey political situation with the future elections in North America. Perhaps a possible civil war in Belarus might fit the bill as it would certainly deflect Russian attention to an area where they thought they had the bull by the horns in Lukashenko and his pro-Kremlin stance. A simmering cauldron of unrest as a barrier between Europe and Russia may sound calamitous on the surface but imagine if Belarus went independent and chose to join NATO? That could mean that the entire Western boundary of Russia would be right up against a European wall brimming with intent to keep autocracy at bay and perhaps be a sounding block for radical change deep into the darker reaches of humanity.

Unfortunately many more people will die unnecessarily before the ink dries on this assault on civilians that is outrageous in the extreme and also shows the world that Russia has nothing good to offer the civilized world but lies and propaganda and if war is their only trade then they need to be sidelined from normal society for as long as it takes to see Putin and his cronies meet their fate. How soul destroying must it be to live in a society, or country for that matter, that doesn't give a ****e for the welfare of it's peoples and only has eyes for the prize of power and greed?

I don’t like Trump and I agree he’s a liability, a bully and an oaf - and quite frankly, dangerous.
However, he managed to get Kim Jong Un to the table and he also had Putain listening.
Trump loves the UK (even though that love is not reciprocated) whereas Biden hates us - when he can remember who we are.
We in the UK would be far better off with Trump in office - ****er though he is, he’s the better of both evils (imho)

a lot of these smouldering dictator ship countries have an active "underground resistance [ UR] " at start of the war in Belarus* the UR via telegram channel said, about 2 -3 month's in, if Belarus troops joined in or attacks fired from Belarus territory there would deep trouble via the anti Russian/ war brigade!
Erdogan on a knife edge with the second vote now looming ..depends how many opposition didnt vote? to swell their numbers and of course now is time to watch for trickery. The opposition would likely sign off Sweden?
sounds like we are starting to train pilots? We announce going to start sending storm's and already Russia shot one down! along with a number of other bits like drones and Himars!

The second run for the Turkish vote is now cause for speculation on the subject of voting fraud because Erdogan isn't going to sit by and let power slip from his grasp. The part-time love-in between Erdogan and Putin will surely come into play during the next vote and don't be surprised to see the incumbent to win handily just to purportedly prove his acceptance by the people. The world map puts Turkey in a strategic position with it's location bridging the Europe/Asia gap along with a dominant coastline on the Black Sea facing Russia on the other side, as well as controlling the entrance into the Mediterranean Sea for all shipping in the area. I notice on "flight radar" that there are numerous flights by Turkish Airlines serving Moscow, and other cities, directly from Istanbul that skirt Ukrainian airspace which tells me that there is a lot of traffic that backs up the strong relationship between the two countries despite a history by Russia of conflict against their neighbour. I also noticed today that several African countries have sent a delegation to Moscow to attempt to stop the war, but I seriously question their intent considering South Africa was recently involved in naval exercises with Russia in the Indian Ocean. Is it possible that Ramphosa has a different agenda and is only looking for Russian money to bolster the economies of the many third world countries that exist on the African continent? Opportunities abound but few of them are about the welfare of the citizens but rather the enrichment of corrupt politicians.

    BAKMHUT ....
Wagner mercenaries have led the fighting there for the Russian side, and Mr Prigozhin this week said that 20,000 of its fighters had died in Bakhmut.
"We are withdrawing units from Bakhmut today," Mr Prigozhin said in a video released on Telegram from the destroyed city.

Yevgeny Prigozhin has vowed to transfer control of the city to the Russian army by 1 June, but Kyiv says it still controls pockets of the city.
He said his forces were ready to return if the Russian regular army proved unable [ smack in the mouth for the Russian generals ] to manage the situation.

The Wagner boss has repeatedly targeted top Russian military officials, criticising them publicly for not supporting his troops. Last month, he even threatened to pull his troops out of the city if they were not provided with much-needed ammunition.

The RDK along with the Liberty of Russia Legion (LSR) claimed Monday's raid into Belgorod region.
Speaking on Wednesday to reporters on the Ukrainian side of the border, its leader, whose nom de guerre is White Rex, said: "We're satisfied with the result [of the raid]."
He said his group had managed to seize "some weapons", including an armoured personnel carrier, and take prisoners during the operation - before leaving Russian territory after 24 hours.

He said two RDK fighters were injured, denying claims by the Russian military about heavy casualties inflicted on the saboteurs.
Separately, the LSR said two of its fighters had been killed and 10 injured. ..............
Russia said it had repelled the raid, killing more than 70 saboteurs. Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu promised a "harsh response" to any future incursions.

WHO WERE THE OTHER 68 THEN Russian soldiers and border guards?
Also they attacked the local FSB BUILDING, SEEMS LIKE THIS IS THE REGULAR TARGET! [ ex KGB !]

interesting but cant help but say tips toward hypocrical as he and the generals have no regard for human life even allow Wagner to deliberately use human beings as bait to find out where the Ukranian positions are! SENDING DOZENS OF WAVES OF HUMAN BEINGS into the face of a far better armed enemy to locate their position is a war crime? certainly a crime against humanity.
When you look at what Russia has done over the past 10 -15 years to its own and others ...like Salisbury! .. you can realise the hypocrsy of it . That speech was meant for the brainwashed, frightened, under the heel masses of his own people who have to believe or suffer .. the poor and mostly poorly educated! 2 million modern day youngsters the future of Russia now reside in the boundaries outside the dictatorship of the so called Russia!
