Last night on the National which is CBC's World News there was no mention of Ukraine at all and that is exactly what so many predicted when the war started. It's very sad to even think that Ukraine will be left to fend for themselves as that will embolden the likes of Russia and China who have their eyes focused on bringing more people under the control of dictators and murderers. Human rights have taken a back seat in despotic countries and if the rest of the free world thinks it will never come down their street then they had better get a large dose of reality medications to help them bury their collective heads in the sand. Freedom as we have known it for many decades is fast disappearing and unless we are prepared to face up to the thugs who want to rule the world then we will get what we deserve and now what we want. Putin, Mao Mark 2 and Trump will eat you alive unless you are prepared to fight for your rights and put authoritarianism in it's place. Wake up world and don't get distracted because there are nasties just waiting for you to relax and say all's O.K. with my world.

P.S. John: I can't see all the transponders being turned off to fool the Russians because we are ready to pounce and Putin is just taking the piss with some of his latest threats about actions against him. So what's your take on the state of the war and do you think it will stop, for now, with just the east of Ukraine sufficient to quell Putin's thirst for blood? Not for me I fear because I think he really wants it all, but may stick with all of the Black Sea coast to cut off Ukrainian dignity to slowly strangle the entire country.

sadly it seems the general that was in charge of the atrocities in Syria where they [ he Russian general ] had no respect for civilians is showing up with the indiscrimanate attacks on civilian targets and infra structures of the population of Ukraine.. by destroying the field s of grain/cereal and tools required to store or harvest. This is bifold, shortage of quantity and price rises for russian grain. Apparently Russian ships are still stopping SHIPS ENTERING OR LEAVING Odessa ............... and to boot stealing it for sale to the only country that openly supports the war and recognition of the PDR's ...

I am starting to believe that this attack on Ukraine is going to continue for years unless more positive support or sanctions are imposed by the nations that oppose every move made by Russia. When major entities like China, India and South Africa are essentially supporting this terror and taking stolen grain from the mouths of the usual recipients it makes me want to scream that all those nations also need to be blocked from world support. At some point in the very near future we as freedom loving nations will have to take action outside of the current support to tell Russia in no uncertain way that their brutality will never be condoned no matter what excuses they will offer. The Stalinist thug that has taken over military operations, after his stint in Syria, has no thought for humanity in his life and supposing he is in the theatre of war needs to be the next top leader targeted for disposal. Putin will not stop until he has emasculated Ukraine and destroyed it's infrastructure and for what purpose other than he can threaten any country, other than EU or NATO allies, without fear of retribution because once the next special operation gets under way then the world should be very concerned. Whether we like to admit or not we are seemingly playing exactly into Putin's hand and his arrogance knows no bounds as Russia apparently just won Wimbledon. Where are the covert assassins when you need them?

She was born in Russia but took Pakistani citizenship 4 years ago!
No transponders on again tonight P3/P8's about today as were strato tankers and c17's etc no sign when I took the odd look of AWAC's.
The droneations is gathering pace ... the front line is about 1800kms long and "locals" and military groups are spying on PDR and Russian positions [ info collated at some points ] and action taken as many as 2000+ drones may be modified for front line use ...some carrying "kamikaze" load. Russian electronics often interfere but drone simply heads for homebase a partial wasted mission.. but of course the source of the interference would be known [ to a degree ] and further flights maybe pin it down and it get destroyed.
PDR force has been estimated to have lost almost half its fighting force, and Russian reservists are being posted to the front[ active ] line but weapons wise not well armed. recent attacks on civilians in non military targets are by weapons that are more than 20 years old and accuraccy abhorent .. but the buthcher of Syria aint worried about that as long as they land somewhere go bang and kill and destroy [bit like the V1's from Hitler.

The blatant attacks on civilian targets continue with yet another residential apartment block being obliterated in a city far from the eastern front. Rarely do I hear of a true military target being hit but rather a relentless barrage of attacks on innocent women and children. The deliberate attempts to make Ukrainians become Russian citizens is a shameful example of brutality forcing the unwanted acceptance of dominance by a state sponsored terrorist government based in Moscow. The world now has to accept that it's future is a choice between good and evil unless there is an uprising of peoples not willing to accept their lot under systems that have no human rights or freedoms. Hungary is already going back down the path to control of the people by the government and how sad it is to see the sacrifices of the past all going for naught. Regrettably I can see others falling down the same drain and if that should happen then the re-emergence of the Soviet Union in all it's murdering history will make an appearance to de-stabilize Europe and the rest of this beautiful world.

Ukraine is getting together some good missile systems and the howitzers need to careful!!! the accuracy of the returning fire from inferior Russian guns [ tv prog ] was about 600m away would be bad luck to fire of a couple rounds and then move to a stray shot <yikes>

It is now looking like Ukraine has found enemies from within who are working with the Russians to control the invasion. All of the countries that left the control of the Soviet Union after the break-up have ethnic Russians more than capable of changing the dynamics within those areas to allow further dominance from the Kremlin. There is a strong move afoot by Donald Trump and his allies to change the world order in such a way that governments will become more authoritarian and normal human rights will go the way of the dodo. Hungary is an example whereby the politicians will have virtual control over all decisions and if the people rebel then they will be dealt with in some unacceptable way, just as in Russia since Putin clamped down on individual freedoms. There is a guy in the U.S. called Steve Bannon who thinks he is the next Joseph Goebells in that he is inflaming hatred through his social media platforms and podcasts to incite people into thinking his ways of thinking is the way forward. Regrettably these pawns are too stupid to understand the consequences of his propaganda and will likely fall under his, and Trump's, spell just like the Germans did leading up to World War Two and we all know what happened back then. The ultra right hate mongers are slowly gaining control of our world and watch for the signs during the November mid-term elections in the U.S. because if the Republicans gain control over most aspects of American life they will change all the voting laws to further their aims and sadly the Republican controlled Supreme Court will back them to the hilt.

The world order is changing and the rise of dictatorial leaders is scary at best and even worse could prevail if it is allowed to continue down the path to inevitable destruction. :emoticon-0112-wonde

I'm not particularly pro or anti Republican or Democrat despite the fact that I have quite a few friends in various parts of the States

But senile Joe Biden and the invisible (when it matters) Kamala Harris are woke examples of how not to run a country and have all time low approval ratings.

Due to their policies and support of BLM, and the defunding of police forces, major cities like San Francisco, Seattle, Chicago and New York are getting record crime and worse.

In Chicago alone there have apparently been over 300 shootings already this year many resulting in deaths of all ages.
These are almost always black on black incidents, yet these stories almost never make the mainstream media news.

    I wonder why.

And while we are talking about the good old MSM, Donald Trump warned Germany leaders about their reliance on Russian Gas in 2017, and the Germans openly mocked him. Had that warning come from Obama then the media would be finger pointing at Germany and asking 'why didn't you listen?'
But like the shootings in Chicago, and because of who told Germany to be careful, it's conveniently ignored.

You made some good points there angelic and I will agree the Biden administration has been very lame but I have trouble seeing how a major country like the U.S. allows so few politicians to hold up social improvements. Democrat Manchin is holding up his party's attempt to get climate change legislation through the house and it could be because he has major investment in the coal industry. My main point was that there is movement afoot by the Republican party and certain other people to essentially destroy the Democrats and therefore introduce an autocracy whereby a single party rules the country under King Trump and then proceeds to take away basic human rights such as the right to abortion as they have already done. Politics is a nasty business and it's becoming clearer to me that the nastier you are the more you will succeed. Shame really.

The Syrian civil war was top of the agenda, with the Russian leader commenting that the crisis can only be solved by adhering to the "basic principles of the respect of sovereignty".
This is the same Vladimir Putin who, five months earlier, invaded Ukraine; no talk then of the need to respect a country's sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity.
The difference? Syria has a pro-Russia leader, President Bashar al-Assad, whom the Kremlin was determined to keep in power. Not so much through "political and diplomatic means", but by sending in the Russian military to help him regain lost territory. ..

Russia's military focus in Ukraine is no longer "only" the east of the country, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has said.
In an interview with Russian state media, he implied Moscow's strategy had changed after the West supplied Ukraine with longer-range weapons.
Russia would now have to push Ukrainian forces further from the front line to ensure its own security, he explained.
    ..
In doing so it is going to cost the lives of many more Russian young people mostly males who are conscripts [ need to get my Ham radio back on station as heard a comment via fellow ham, Russian ops are banned from talking about the war, some use false calls !!!! ] there is a growing concern that mothers and wives of older member families are beginning to see the light .. it is a fruitless war and their love ones are being sacrificed as canon fodder to fulfil the twisted aims of those running the country ... all parliament and government officials do not have their children fighting on the front line, this keeps them toeing the line!
Besides trying to take on more "territory" forces will be spread thinner ... already [ said it before cut off the crimea ] they are targetting the Kherson bridge ... they ought to target the bridge at KERCH also!

The US had earlier accused Russia of preparing to annex parts of Ukraine.

"Russia is blackmailing us. Russia is using energy as a weapon," European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said on Wednesday, announcing a target of cutting gas use across the EU by 15%. Caada fulfilled its promise to send a part to get the gas flowing ... will the Ruskies honour their side? Hopefully the part is Unique and only Russia to Europe pipeline compatible ...

I don't pretend to understand American thinking at times Mike, especially when it comes to politics.

But interestingly, a recent report showed that it's a majority of women who have pushed against the right to abortion, which I found very odd and more than a little unsettling.

But Bidens handling of Afghanistan, basically arming the Taliban with trillions of dollars of US equipment and ammunition and putting womens and girls rights back another century are unforgivable, as is his trip to Saudi Arabia, another country with an appalling human rights record, to beg for more oil.

What about all of the American states that produce oil such as Texas, North Dakota, New Mexico etc Why are America begging the Middle East for oil when they produce their own ?
Because like us, they have signed up to the green agenda and have scaled back everything which would keep their independence and not having to rely on other countries.

And illegal immigration in the US on the southern border has exceeded 2,000,000 already this year. Again, our friend Donald could see what was going to happen and tried to protect ordinary Americans from the burden by building 'the great big wall' which has been abandoned by Joe & Co. It's a free for all, just like here and no one in authority seems to even want to stop it, push back and say NO ENTRY.

Here we are approaching 15,000 illegals who have crossed the English Channel only to be given 3 or 4 star hotels, 3 square meals etc, and who are then free to roam wherever they please, unmonitored. If that doesn't scare us, then it ought to. It came to light recently that the Manchester Arena bomber had crossed the channel illegally. I'm sure the vast majority just want a better life, but this is an island with dwindling space, resources, and patience.

Meanwhile some British children in care, are being housed in caravans or on narrow boats. You really couldn't invent this inequality and the treatment of our own citizens who are obviously far less important than some undocumented, un-vaccinated, potential terrorist or rapist !

If the 2 remaining Tory candidates showed an ounce of compassion for British people for once based on this story, they would actually have a large proportion of the population behind them.

The Government here have also signed off on Sizewell C Nuclear Plant in Suffolk going ahead, which will provide 7% of the UKs electricity. In 10 years time and at a cost of £20-£30Bn !

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but looking back to 2014 when Putin annexed Crimea, why were all 'normal' goverments not taking heed of what might happen next ?

    Amen

agree leaving weapons was not the best result ... but totally disagree with the assumption it was to supply USA with oil. How it works is it a commodity, so supply and demand regulates prices Biden wants the middle east to allow for more barrels per day to be released ..this lowers the price USA and Central Americas have increased flows, this stemmed the rocketing price! Russia restricting flow increases the price.

there is of course an end game Oil and gas will run out.. in the late 60's when the natural gas pipeline was branched off [ somewhere near Queen Charlton??? is the pipeline! ] to supply St Annes Board Mill many houses en route benefitted ! At the time it was bandied about that Oil and Gas would run out around the turn of the century ... however they found other areas with better technology! .. now believe by 2065 will be scarce/ on known sources... Saudia Arabia knows their time is limited so they have invested world wide in almost everything!!!

If that's the case then fair enough

The military hardware left in Afghanistan not only benefitted the Taliban hugely.

It also cost American tax payers that same amount of money again as it did initially, to replace all of the kit left behind where it was needed elsewhere in the world or at home.

So the likes of Boeing, Lockheed-Martin and co essentially sold each piece to the American Government twice. Nice work if you can get it.

Unless you are a US taxpayer of course !

I can remember watching a video prior to our emigration to Canada that claimed that we had enough mineral resources to be self sustaining along with being able to ship products to a large international market. Those resources would include light/heavy oil, natural gas and most minerals known to mankind and if you included other countries like the U.S. and Mexico it would seem that we have the world by the nuts and yet we still import a lot of oil from overseas. In my possibly ill informed mind I would think we should be a major player in the world resource market and helping out the situation caused by the Ukraine invasion. Despite all of my thoughts we are paying the highest price in North America out here on the west coast for petrol and it bugs me as to why that should be the case.

Coal, copper, zinc, tantalum, uranium, nickel, platinum based metals, potash (for fertilizers) gold and diamonds are just a few of the rich minerals available to sell to international markets. Having to literally beg the Saudis to give the West oil makes my blood boil because here we are supporting another rogue nation in order to punish Russia for it's atrocities which to me sounds self defeating at least. The world keeps on turning despite the mayhem in Ukraine, and the political issues facing our neighbours south of the 49th parallel, and it makes me wish for sanity to re-enter the earth's atmosphere along with cleaner air to reduce the planet from warming to the point of destruction. The sad part is that we are taking 2 steps forward and then one step back because the policies needed to sort out all of the problems facing us all tend to counteract each other and ends up leaving our politicians with difficult choices to make on our behalf, and I wish them luck in this insanity.
