Never been a fan of Newcastle but it's a shame that such talents will be wasted if they go down. I think the blame lies within Pardew and the board, as they never allowed the team to evolve. Especially after last year's success, when we saw so many brilliant individual performances, I always felt that Newcastle lacked a sort of team chemistry, and instead of working on that, more new players were added.

Begs the question why the board have never provided funds for a half decent back up striker. Everyone knows you need a minimum of 3-4 goalscoring options. We have one! Even the likes of West Brom have Long, Lukaku, Odemwingie, Rosenburg, Fortune. All 5 are better than Shola. Stoke have Jones, Crouch, Owen, Walters, Jerome. All 5 are better than Shola. Fulham have Berbatov, Ruiz, Petric, Rodellega. All 4 are better than Shola. West Ham have Carroll, Nolan, Cole, Maiga, Chamakh. All 5 are better than Shola. Villa have Benteke, Bent, Weimann, Agbolahor. All 4 are better than Shola. Essentially the balance of our squad is pathetic. Yes we have HBA when fit, Gouffran but they are less of a forward/goalscoring threat than say a Nolan, Fortune or Ruiz.

Still would have used young Campbell more but we are well short in terms of attacking threat. SAF always says he wants 4 minimum. When you throw in our creative players like HBA, Cabaye, Marveaux all miss games, its not hard to work out why we can be a bit toothless

Nail on the head post. Only thing I'd say is that I believe Ben Arfa could easily be a very good goal threat for us (more so than Nolan, Fortune and Ruiz) if he could only stay fit. He can't though so I guess its a moot point.

Hopefully if we can stay up we might see our summer recruitment bring in two strikers. Aubameyang and Carroll would be lovely.

Can anyone remember the day when we found out that Pardew would be taking over. West Ham fans were saying - he'll take you down? He's done what he always does. Has one good season then he gets found out and the team get relegated. I'd like to say we will stay up - The players we have are capable of winning both games. The trouble is, when we have Alan Pardew in charge then I suspect we will end up with 'nil point'. I hope to go Norwich continue their freefall because they are the only ones who can save us.

As I say, taking nothing for granted, games are mental this time of year. They are imploding though. 1 down, team fighting survival and playing well next, and four of their best 5 players ruled out (Cattermole, Gardner, Fletcher, Sessegnon) Rose can't play these teams on his own.

Relegation battle far from over. Newcastle, Norwich and Wigan definately in it, plus one of Sunderland or Stoke depending on the result of this game.
