Was a player I never wanted to see on the ball against Spurs on the edge of the box especially. Nearest thing to a gasp he could produce was his medium range shooting. Very clinical.
The player I've enjoyed watching the most over the last 10-15 years (excluding United bias) is Ronaldinho. The guy had amazing talent, and imo was more entertaining to watch than Messi. I actually enjoyed watching Messi more when he played as a RW. Other than that, Zidane, Iniesta and Marlon Harewood. And just to show there's no anti-Liverpool bias in this Suarez debacle of a thread I will wax lyrical ALL day long about Alonso. Great great midfielder and imo the best player Liverpool have had in the last 10-15 years. And a bigger loss than Suarez, Gerrard or Charlie Adams.
FFS replied to to the wrong bait! I'll just have to wait for Gerrez now to come along and throw his customary fit
Diego Costa said something similar... "I've played against him, you just cannot let him get near your eyeballs. He's so strong" And Costa is no lightweight...
On the whole Gerrard V Lampard thing, its been done to death, but they each had their strengths. Gerrard was inspirational, he would take games by the scruff of the neck and turn them around for Liverpool, and get that extra 1% out of his teammates. His passing was also great and his engine. Lampard was clinical, his goalscoring record for a CM was remarkable, and as someone previously said, his medium range shooting was sublime, as was his set piece play, his runs were very clever and he was always in the right place at the right time to pounce on a loose ball. His vision was great. A great footballing brain. I will concede Gerrard had more moments of sheer brilliance, though Lampard was far more consistent and played at a higher level for longer. I would argue though, that for the majority of their careers, Gerrard was in a much inferior team to Lampard and therefore more was required of him to lift spirits and get results. Also Lampards football boots have much better grip
Sometimes better to check your facts before you go spouting off, Fosse... http://www.goal.com/en-sg/slideshow/2662/7/title/10-brainy-footballers
... how does that disprove my point that you don't see many footballers on Universally Challenge? That said, I'm pleased for Frank that his IQ is only marginally less than mine ... and considerably more than yours ...
You mean University Challenge, oh mighty IQ? You'll probably find that the schedule of being an undergraduate was incompatible with being a professional footballer.
