snodgrass is at his best when he is palying in front of a full back who finds it natural to attack.eg connolly/lichaj. this way the full back overlapping drags away a defender and prevents teams doubling up on snoddy.
I wouldn't say he is sulking and looks disinterested more the fact that teams know what he will do and put 2 men on him all the time. As has been said he's proclaimed his love for the club and wants to get into the premiership with us he just needs to try something new.
So by playing badly... one second.... i need to think about this one.... he is going to get more money... or move to a better premiership team....hmmm..... yea i suppose that makes
Thought you didn't go to games these days? So how can you deduce he's been playing badly, other than believing everything you read on a web forum?
I have heard from several sources that indeed Snoddy is sulking. A strong rumour going around is that on transfer window deadline day, he was having a medical at Blackburn but failed to agree personal terms?? Dont know how much truth there is in that rumour, but what I do know for fact is that he has been told in the past to cut down on the booze, maybe this could account for his current lack of form? He is a brilliant player, one I would NOT like to see go & he seems a brilliant lad as a person, but he looks more knackered than me after running for a bus & i am well old!
yea i very much highly rate snoddy, he does seem off a little bit. But he has still shown moments of magic and produced a decent amount of assists already. Maybe we just expect it from him now and dont appreciate it as much
Plus the opposition have him man-marked to **** most games. Very hard for him to do his wriggling and writhing routine when he's marked so closely - not that it's stopped him from providing quite a few goals.
yea agreed. I think hes a big reason we havent been playing as well as we have been, probably a little to do with not having gradel on the other wing as well i suppose
A good manager plans for this and uses the opportunity of two opposing players marking one of his to get his players into positions were they can't be marked, unless the opposition revert back to single marking of the danger man. As far as I have seen this season, Grayson has failed to do that, instead he just allows the man marking to take place and this means more often than not, Snoddy fails to get past the defence and put dangerous balls into the opposition box. Remember it's eleven men v eleven men, if two are right beside Snoddy when we are attacking, then that means there are gaps for us to exploit.
Possibly, but I was really meaning the whole attack and midfield should be creating space (where the gaps are) for Snoddy to get the ball to quickly or for others to have a go, if the opposition keep two players on one of ours, then there will be defensive gaps and it's up to us to exploit it. To do this, you need fit and fast players, perhaps we don't have that and that's why Grayson doesn't do it.
Snod always hits from in the autumn so he will soon start doing well for us again. The one problem I have always had with him is his lack of pace, which halts any flowing attacks we may have in its tracks once he gets the ball and allows the opposition to get back and cover. When he is on form though he can do some real damage, and his workrate used to cover for any other problems he had, so if this is now going then at times there won`t be much else on show so maybe SG needs to give Lloyd a few starts in the next couple of weeks or so?
Bring Connely back in so when they double up on Snod Connely can zip past constantly pulling one man off him. Although Lee's has shown some excellent delivery’s he is NOT A WING BACK & is much more defensively minded due to learning his trade at centre back.
Gradel and Howson would have worked perfectly alongside Gradel to do that. Sadly there have been the setbacks of A) McCormack coming into excellent form and needing a partner up front, B) Gradel being sold and C) Howson's natural position behind the striker being duly neglected. So it's a difficult one organizing this attack, but clearly we haven't done it too badly thus far.
All we need for Snodgrass to play better, is a proper full back (Connelly) to overlap and give him some space. Tom Lees doesn't do that, so that means there's always 2 players doubling up on him. When Connelly goes on the overlap, it gives Snoddy an option but also more space to create chances.
