    Highly sensible post.

If anyone's actually watched out players you'll have seen its not in sprints that they've gone done but in stretching in tackles.

It's simply the case that we need to look at 3 things

    1. Warm ups. Are they right?

    2. Amount of games and as one guy goes down the strain on the next increases etc

    3. There has to be a change in training and for me I think klopp will have made the same mistake van Gaal did last year in expecting to actually work with playears not mind them. Our lads ain't fit enough and I can't wait til klopp gets a full preseason into them. I think we will be a totally different side then.

I agree with @PGFWhite about the increase in amount and intensity of training under Klopp being a big reason over these injuries.

Thing is though Klopp had no choice but to up the intensity of training or he wouldn't be able to get us playing his own game. I already think this season in the league is pretty much a write off because of Rodgers' start and our only realistic chance of success is in the Europa or domestic cups. I think it'll be a lot less painless for everybody if we just view this season under Klopp as one where he gets to learn about the current players and which ones he wants to keep. In any case I think our top 4 hopes will be finished by half 3 a week on Sunday.

  4. I think it's worth considering the previous managers methods here too.

Brod as said numerous times that he doesn't believe in players needing a rest when it comes to games. He believes they can rest in the week by each player having an individual training schedule; ie they rest rather than train over missing games.

Maybe the players aren't used to actually training properly?

We were usually out of competitions early under Rodgers for the most part? He typically had 1 game a week and could focus on the league.

I do agree that players training should be tailored - I'm sure this is the case I.e Sturridge

Possibly. It depends what you mean by training "properly". Each coach will have their own training methods and it will be a matter of debate which is best.

If coaches are playing different styles of football then different training styles may be required. Players adapt to each training style, but if the change is made too quickly then thats where problems will occur, it's the same with any training regime for any sport.

Klopp is used to training elite athletes and will be aware of this, it's basic stuff. It could be that he's just been unlucky.

Hamstrings pings are caused by exerting the muscle at it's maximum i.e. sprinting.

Klopp's style of pressing game requires players to close the ball down quickly and therefore multiple short sprints. If you're practicing this technique in training and then doing the same across 90 minute games, then it's no real surprise that they're pinging with alarming regularity over the intense Christmas and New Year fixture period.

He's not had to deal with anything like the fixture congestion that we have over here at this time of year before, back in Germany he'd have been on a beach at the minute enjoying a mid season break.

It's a learning curve for him, and it remains to be seen whether that learning curve is going to cost you this season, that will depend on the severity of the strains suffered I suppose. Tonight's game is the last thing he'd have wanted, a lower league heavy pitch and a cut and thrust cup tie.

Regarding your point on warm ups, I used to watch the Swans warm ups when Rodgers was in charge and they were very clever and innovative. We had very few serious injuries when he was here if I remember correctly.

    Or over stretching.

You are right. It's the cbs who are not doing this pressing in matches but are stretching for balls and pulling muscles.

They have to be on the edge
