Grrr, the old fashioned paper stuff bound together only mentioned as you say it was his last game, and as you post the above I found the above with following quote "I'm glad it was Sandy out there; not me," a typically modest Nethercott would say after the replay. "He's a much better keeper than I am." The article also has quotes from Terry Allcock, who did my Dad's funeral, and he came round my Mum's. It was a good job Dad had died as he would of hidden anyway as he would have been too nervous to meet Terry Allcock.
Ruddy is pretty amazing, can't really comment on the old skool keeepers but I'd put cash on him in a fight.
Haha, trust you lot to turn a sort-of-wum-post into a serious discussion about goalkeepers. You guys are bloody great! PS: Best keeper of all time - 1) Gigi Buffon.
Have to agree with the skipper on this one. For me it would be: Lev Yashin (original man in black) Gordon banks Sepp Maier Peter Shilton Gigi Buffoon Dino Zoff
I know there is an atomic clock somewhere that is supposed to be the most accurate timepiece on the planet so I think that would be the best keeper of all time.
He was a great bloke. I remember when he lived in Sheringham, he would always find time to have a kick about with us kids. He was also one of the smallest keepers I remember.
