Such skill, such poise, such awareness - to hell with Pogba, lets tie down Fellani and give him a proper buzz cut and sell him for 60m.

    :)

It is not our money anyway. It's the GGs' and I would prefer it spent (squandered haha) rather than enrich their already inflated coffers in the US of A. <ok>

And before any of us feel sorry for the poor penniless GGs they will recoup any money spent on the worlds most expensive player by heavy global marketing. This is what Woodward knows best. I am pretty confident that if juventus wanted £85m, United would offer £90m in order to get that title of World Most expensive player.

I think Pogba is coming back to United BTW.

Treble is failing to see how the great Fellaini averted the defensive danger and turned it into an attack play (almost :afro::afro::afro:) .

I would love to see it happen but I don't think it will happen. If I were French and in Pogba's position to work with either Zidane or Mourinho, I would most likely choose Zidane. Unless money becomes unevenly offered.

Actually it would be interesting to see what the French fans really do think. If he came to us he would be working with international team-mates Martial and Schneiderlin - strengthening and developing a midfield and attacking connection for the national side. All it needs is for one bad season and Zidane will be toast.

I think the reason why United may get him is that anything offered by Real Madrid can be matched by United. The Spanish club is already apparently in trouble for getting illegal state subsidy. If Mourinho really wants him, he'll get him. I can't see any other club being able to pay the requested fee.

Just found the story here: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...s-Rodriguez-raise-funds-big-summer-spend.html

I laugh when I read about how Real is the richest club in the world. If there were ever a crime syndicate in football, Madrid would be the HQ. But hey, they will get away with it under the protection of Madrid government. £15m is a slap on the wrist. The whole sequence of events smelled from as back as 1998 and it will continue because it is always "Ala Madrid".

    Haha.

As the article said and in another paper headline, Pogba has expressed his "desire and love" to play for Madrid and there is a also personal agreement with them (as there is to join United!). This is what you call keeping your options open...:)

Part of me thinks he will go to Madrid, but I also think there may be some small part of him that wants to come back to the club for the world record transfer fee with a hint of 'told you I was worth it Fergie' .................

I think it will all hinge on personal terms plus RM have to get rid or Morata to finance the deal and at the moment there are no takers.

With all our recent business being conducted through the same agent as Pogba there is likely to be more substance to this one. The agent would have quickly shut the door on any likelihood of a move back to us if the RM deal was a certainty...............and who is to say that we are not the ones boxing clever, by maintaining a high-profile public interest in Pogba we are driving up the transfer fee (and wages - a big concern for RM). In all likelihood RM might have to part with more than just Morata to free up the cash and there might be an alternative 'bargain' for us from their squad

And if that CL club doesn't qualify the following season does he then leave?

It's a cliche, he can survive without champions league for one season if he has shred of ambition.

That said, I'm genuinely underwhelmed by the prospect of paying £100 million for him anyway as we have some very good players at the club who could play in his position.

Ah but do we have the very best players? If he significantly improves the midfield then we have to have him even at the £100m+ price. It would be "worth" it. These days, at these rarefied levels, who knows what the price paid means any more? If you really want to challenge the likes of Madrid and Barcelona as the biggest clubs in world football then you have to have the best players.

With due respect to Leicester, it is not enough for United to be the best team with average or better than average players. They have to have the best and the most glamourous players. That is why Zlatan was an obvious purchase. He will keep United in the head lines as will Pogba.

United have become such a big brand and as such on field success has become a means to an end.

20 years ago, most of the clubs would invest huge sums for a very little returns or even losses to have success on the pitch.

Now: it is reversed. Most clubs want success on the pitch (trophies, premiership football) to reap huge returns and profit on their investments. The right players are worth a lot and even mid ranking or lower placed clubs are willing to pay huge amounts for players.

The rumour is that Juventus are holding out for £120m rather than sell at £100m. The United business model means that they will be willing to pay that!
