I called it that the opening day result for the Chavs was a one off, Spurs don't often start well and neither does Kane although he tried hard yesterday.

I think Levy has made a huge mistake in moving now.

This is the best Spurs team in my lifetime and very close to winning the league.

In order to win the league everything has to be in place and everything going for you.

And now, at the point Spurs have been hoping and building for, they decide to move stadium and immediately the home crowd benefit goes out the window.

That's enough to fall short of winning.

    They've had a shocker.

The big trouble with Wembley is that every away player wants to have a win at Wembley on his CV.

You don't really get that apart from the truly big club's stadiums like Old Trafford, Santiago Bernabeu, Nou Camp, San Siro etc.

You can't stick a massive ground development scheme on hold because the team are doing quite well lol

I disagree, I think you can.

They had no real need to move.

They have been deliberating over it for some years - the company I used to work for bid on the project (didn't win).

Ultimately its their money and they can choose when the spades are put into the ground although it will likely cost more.

Do you agree that the development will derail their title bid though?

They have every need to move if they're to try and keep pace with the leagues elite their stadium was outdated and small compared to their peers.

Shunting a £750m project to the back burner because they've had 2 good seasons is bonkers logic imo.

I don't think they are title material this season anyway, as the 2 Manchester clubs have invested heavily and well, and I've thought it's between the 2 of them before a ball was kicked, and I've seen nothing yet to change that view.

I think if they had stayed at home I would have put them as contenders along with the Manchester clubs and and an outside bet with Chelsea.

Now I see them no higher than 4th, scrapping it out with Arsenal, ourselves and you guys.

Leaving it a year would be a big call admittedly but it wouldn't be impossible.

Having a new stadium one year later wouldn't be all that bad. Its not like WHL is 30k seater.

It goes down to business vs winning and Levy is very much the former.

They are certainly putting obstacles in their own way to winning and if they're not careful this crop of players and manager will move on and Spurs will again have nothing left to show for it except a stadium.

    See Arsenal on that front.

    WHL was 32,000 last season.

The issue they've got with keeping that squad together is more about their wage structure than their ambition.

    Thank ****

I think they'll get used to Wembley, but every club who goes there will be right up for it, and it'll cost them over the season.

I think that side was always going to break up at the end of this season anyway, there'll be bigger fish circling for some of their top players.

    Yeah, agreed.

They're fall short this year and their big guns will be sold.

And yes, reduced competition for both our clubs!

honestly, you only have yourself to blame.

It's like when big teams visiting liverpool and expecting them to trounce liverpool. Doesn't matter who it is pool always turn out for the big games

That is part of it but i'm sort of with sharpy boy. Realistically the squad will be broken up sooner or later over wages. However the only reason they are still together is because they have poochy and they all believe in his project. They are pretty close and have the best record over the past two seasons, if this season goes as badly as we think it will with the move to wembley, then everyone is going to think **** that, might as well go earn the bunce.

Delaying the project for a year with a realistic chance of winning the league (lets face it they will have no chance if everyone leaves) could be the path to putting them in with the bigboys. Think about the marketing dream of being PL champions.

They've damaged their chances with the stadium move alongside no spending

Oh I know, I thought I was being clever. I've gone and filled my team with Man United players now expecting a goal fest at Old Trafford next week.

Meaning i'll be happy either way. Either we win or my fantasy side blows up.

They already started work on the new stadium. In fact they had 3/4 of the structure up and in place by the end of last season, and were just waiting on the final whistle of the last home match before they knocked down the old ground.

They could hardly have left it like that for a year could they?

    Not really <ok>

Poor old Spurs, shooting themselves in the foot.

    Unfortunate timing I suppose.

Having said that - Spurs are still preventing themselves from winning by their own decision making.

You had to didn't you <ok><laugh>

You only lose 3 points from a game and he contributed to many more than 3 that season.

Not that I'm ever going to bring you to reason on this point!
