And yet you fail to see any of the mistakes that others (such as St. Ben) are making. I don't think anyone is claiming Alan Pardew is a great manager, and most would love us to have a better manager - though in my opinuon he is nowhere near as bad as many make out. However he is here for now. Making up facts to beat him with and ignoring facts (such as how unprofessional HBA is) that support him doesn't help anybody.

You are not getting this are you? To be employed by Newcastle United, you would HAVE to adhere to this policy. Nobody is saying they agree with the policy or a top manager would accept it. They would not be working here is the point and therefore bringing them into it is absolutely nonsensical. Surely you can understand, that the next manager replacing Pardew if you sacked him would have to work within the same restraints. It is not up to Pardew or the fans, its up to Ashley how he wants to run the club.

I must say, DMW, that to suggest no-one better than Pardew could work at a club that has thus far sanctioned what appears to be NINE incomings this Summer is now a bit of a nonsense. I empathise with the view when the manager's expected to work with nothing, but what manager wouldn't want to take the 7th or 8th best squad at the 5th or 6th largest club in the Country and try and make it better? It's not as if Ashley is expecting a top 10 finish with a relegation squad - he has given Pardew a top 8 squad here, so are you really telling me that hundreds of managers wouldn't fancy it?

I think you misunderstand the conversation Roland. Ben 10 is saying that a manager of Robson or Keegan's calibre would not stand for not trying to win the cup competitions whereas Pardew meekly accepts it. I have simply pointed out that it is nonsense to discuss such things because Ashley would not employ those types of manager similar unless they agreed to work within the constraints he has chosen. If you are suggesting that Ashley would change his policy to suit a different manager or indeed employ a better manager, I think you are mistaken. Surely he already would have if that was the case?

I don't believe he has given Pardew a top 8 squad personally. There are certainly top 8 players within it, but for me our defensive options are poor and therefore it will handicap us. I think we have a top 10 squad, which Pardew is probably just about capable of delivering.

There are loads of managers who would fancy working at Newcastle. They would all have to agree with the board policy of writing off the cups though. Those mentioned (Robson and KK) would never have worked with such constraints and would have likely walked. I do doubt whether a top manager would work here. Maybe an up and coming manager with potential for the top would agree to it.
