If he continues to shine as his brief Preston cameo then many of the big prem clubs will be in for him. The big teams will be already monitoring highly rated Watmore's return. As you say Short will sell, probably as we begin to recover and we'll then be searching for another missing link in our team. Less gloom from me though .....

Marco- no top club, Philips- no top club, Defoe - not top club(Spurs weren't the force they are now back then) I've never said I don't rate him. In fact it's pretty well known on here how much I rate him, I've only consistently posted his development on this board. But fact is he's not yet experienced and developed to be remotely put in the same league as our best Strikers who never got a shot at the top clubs. Not many home grown players get moves to the top clubs Watmore is nowhere near the standard. I rate him, you're just being completely mental imo

 

Watmore is a very useful player but he doesn't read the game well enough or have enough quality on the ball for the big clubs to be interested.

Don't read that as me saying he's crap because I rate him highly, but only in the context of him being a Sunderland player.

I know you rate him but I remember it was a huge coup and surprise when we signed him as other high profile clubs had been monitoring him. I just feel with our (lack of) luck its nailed on to happen that a bid comes in for him IF (a big if) he keeps up his progress. Certainly not for £100k as SF sarcastically posted ... maybe he's been on the happy baccy .....

Com could do 50 bongs on the trot and he still wouldn't say Watmore to a top club.

 

I'm an eternal optimist - but completely agree.

Hope he finds that level for us mind or turns into that £50m+ player but he's a long way from that ATM. Probably a similar level as Ross McCormack mind who was a £12m player! (Hope Ellis doesn't read this and think the same!) Maybe better than McCormack really as he's shown capability at the prem level which McCormack hasn't - although still no idea how his injury has impacted on him

 

I think Dunc will have a good career. I think he'll taste more Prem footy again too. Just Wandy has to go overboard into his far fetched world than claim people don't rate him cause they haven't gone hand in hand with him over the rainbow.
