So it's apparent that there are some dissenting voices which is fine. They are entitled to their opinions whether others like it or not. I'm in favour of Del. He wasn't my first choice because I would have gone for experience. I'd rather be failing in the top 6 than the bottom 6 but hey ho. Many were questioning his motivation skills but I saw a team who were very motivated yesterday. We can't defend but we haven't been able to since our first season back at this level. The only question mark I have is Jon Stead. I'm a massive fan and he would be one of the first names on my team sheet. Don't see why it's taken so long for him to be selected
Here here Matt,Jon Stead was a example to all city players yesterday,my brother was with him after the match,he said he was top bloke who wants to stay and do well at city. Common Del play Jon and Brett together, remember they looked the part before he had his injury.
We were always likely to lose yesterday and for once, other results went against us. Our fate is still in our own hands but we're lacking heart and belief. Del is still the man for the job and whether we go down or not I hope he's around for years to come
From what I'm reading here, the problem seems more in the dressing room than around the management table. If there are bad apples causing discontent, which means the players are not perfoming on the pitch, then that problem needs to be addressed immediately. I can't believe that many football managers can be expected to have the necessary skills to resolve that problem. In that case Delboy may need help from specialists in the field of team bonding. Few major companies expect to leave that field of interest entirely to its own internal employees, but employ specialist consultants for assistance. We all live in a modern world where it ain't only ex-footballers who can deal with all of the problems of professional football clubs.
We are going down for sure because every other team at the bottom is scratching out enough wins or draws to overtake us within another three to four matches. We can't score goals and can't defend a lead if we do get a miracle of a first goal. As for the board and SL in particular, I know he has put in what seems to be shedloads of money especially over the past three to four years BUT I do wonder if in real terms it has been any more than chairmen of years gone by. For instance when Harry Dolman put in £55,000 in 1960 after another disastrous relegation, what would be the current value of this amount? My honest feeling is that every chairman including SL, since I started following City in 1950, has put sufficient funds in to stop up the sink plughole for a while BUT has singularly failed to put any more than that to provide us with the extra impetus to really achieve something. We are still a club from the 6th biggest English city that has spent the least amount of time in the top division in my lifetime when compared with many others from small towns and cities a third of Bristol's size. If Dave Whelan can achieve and maintain Prem status for Wigan after taking over while they were in the 4th division, why can't City do it? Perhaps as an ex pro himself he has realised that you don't just block the hole to stop the water leaking out but provide a new supply of water as well to maintain and increase the level. What we needed in the January window was two or three good quality signings that were not loan players. West Ham clearly decided to buy their way up with Maynard, Vaz Te etc. We decided to borrow instead. Plenty of local derbies next season. Yeovil, Exeter, Cheltenham, Swindon, Bournemouth and if McGhee keeps it going how about them via the play offs. Very despondent at present as this will be my 7th relegation season.
We need to rermember where we were when DM took over - adrift at the bottom. As we speak we are out of the bottom 3 (though i do acknowledge that we are in free fall). Look, I don't agree with every decision - for example playing Wood on the left wing on Saturday. However, I do believe that DM was the right appointment and will be good for our club in the long run.
We aren't further forward? We were bottom when he came in. We are out the relegation zone now. So we are further forward actually. I'm not a head-in-the-sand man before you say it and I know we are in big trouble but much less trouble than under Millen (would we have won a single game under him?). I still think we have been very unlucky in some of the games and have actually looked pretty decent in spells. When a team is on a losing streak things seems to go against them and confidence is obviously low in the squad. I reckon a lucky goal, and a decent performance could turn the team around. I do wonder about Pitman though, there must be an issue with him as for me he should be starting up front with Jon Stead in a 4-4-2 or 3-5-2
I had my reservations at first, and I still do now as McInnes didn't spend freely as I imagined he would have. However, I don't think we would have got a manager anywhere near as good as McInnes in our position. As I've said for a while now the problem isn't the manager. The reason we're so rubbish at the moment is because most of our team isn't of the quality required for the Championship. Apart from a handful of players I can't imagine any other team in this division wanting what we have. What is important is that we drop this mentality that we deserve to be gunning for promotion. We don't have the money, we don't have the team, we don't have the support, we don't have the stadium and we definitely don't have the form. What we do have is a young and bright manager, so we should stop blaming him for the problems this club had well before he joined us. We need our board and our players to take the hit of relegation and to let McInnes build his own side worthy of winning League 1 and then competing in the Championship. However, if we can hold onto our Championship status we will be in a much better position to compete, as if I remember correctly we still have a large number of players on their last year with us. The best thing that the fans can do right now is attend every game and sing their hearts out for their club. We can lift the players out of this slump by supporting them.
What the **** has it got to do with McInnes? Its the players who are serial bottlers, boozers and twats! Alf Ramsey couldn't turn this shower of ****e into anything resembling a championship side so how can we expect an inexperienced manager from a **** side in a **** league to do better?? The table doen't lie. We are, where we are on merit, not bad management.
Is Derek McInnes the man for us......................YES,YES,YES & a thousand more times, YES!!! get these foolish idea's out of your heads about getting rid, plain rediculous!
