I believe that it is mathematically possible for us to get promoted automatically, but it is becoming more and more apparent that we will have to settle for the play-offs

I often see people saying they're 'realists' when, in fact, they're pessimists who don't believe optimists can see 'reality'.

The conundrum is that reality in football is ever changing and not like the reality of your bank balance going down before payday or whatever.

There are times when even the manager starts to accept 'the reality' of a situation but reality bites him on the arse.

When Gus Poyet said we needed a miracle to stay up he was wrong, what we needed was to win some games.

When we stayed up the optimists were proved right and 'the realists' proved wrong, not that they'd agree, ... simple as that.

Momentum, confidence and reality in football can change in a heartbeat, or the width of a crossbar, normal rules just do not apply

"Sunderland manager Gus Poyet says "it would be a miracle" if his side avoided relegation from the Premier League.

The Black Cats remain bottom of the table after their 5-1 defeat by Tottenham Hotspur on Monday.

Sunderland are seven points behind 17th-placed Norwich City."

I think it’s been “likely” for 2-3 months that it will be playoffs. Definitely still a chance of automatics.

More importantly I’d say there’s literally 1% chance now of not even getting playoffs. Which means my season target has been more than achieved. Delighted.

The thing to me about the game tomorrow is that, though they are flying at the top, Leeds can't be losing. They have to go up. The pressure is on them.

And it's on Sheff Utd, and Burnley. Any one of those three fail to make it up and it will get a bit messy financially, maybe a lot worse than that.

We might go straight up, we might need the raffle. But it won't be a disaster if we don't make it. It probably will be for any of the three above us, they have thrown their cash at it, and it needs to work.

The last two posts on both Leeds threads are exactly the same, so it's time to close this one :emoticon-0148-yes:
