Brilliant post. We have allowed politicians of all persuasion stoke these culture wars. They should be ashamed. Points scoring om immigration will be recorded in history as a dark stain on our country. We are America light and it is frankly pathetic. I left home at 18. 1990. The only multicultural experience I had was a local chinese chip shop. The family were so welcome and part of our community. Eating chop suey rolls was an amazing treat. Then I land in Derby and I make friends so easily with everyone. Best mate for years was an Indian lad. Others were Ipswich, Malta, Barry Island, Scottish, Cypriot. We were like a mad bunch of every culture. What a bloody time we had though. I lived in a rough area of Derby. Terrible poverty, but incredible camarederie. My neighbour was a Jamaican elderly couple who fed me for years. I did theor garden. Grandparents I never had. Loved them with all my heart and them me. My wife and I have been to Jamaica twice since and I swear I would live happily ever after as a Jamaican. But they want me to have a great time in their community it key. I have been to their beach parties, and Kingston reggae parties. Like I say, needs two to integrate.
