http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constantinople Changing something's name doesn't change their achievements. History doesn't change, only our interpretation of it. Call our club Wyke wizards or Meaux marvels for all I care, I will still support my hometown club.
personally I will be proud that I have experienced the team that was Hull City. BP doesn't cease to exist, in the teams past, cause the KC came along.
Rangers now are a completely new club, the old rangers folded/liquidated , the rights to the badge, name stadium etc were all.bought but does that mean rangers lose all their history over 50 league titles? Mk dons was a completely new brand , name change, badge change, kit change, stadium and location change but initally they kepy the same playing squad Our situation, name change, badge change but Stadium, playing squad stays the same (at least for now) I am against the name change massively as compared to the two above examples ours is completely unnesscary and pathetic and embarrassing and I love saying im a hull city / city fan but we don't lose the history of all that came before us, I'm not sure on my decision on whether I shall attend hull tigers games still
Sadly, one or two people have a strange idea of how history and the media work no matter what examples are put before them. Others are just contrary in the hope they get replied to. There's the wealth of information at the finger tips, but some people seem to want to hide from the very obvious truth. Hull City's history will end if this goes through.
Forgive me if I'm being dim, but are you attempting to claim that Hull Tigers would be an entirely new entity, unconnected to Hull City AFC?
The fact is the honours board for example; Hull city Play off winners 2008 Runners up 2013 Hull tigers Fa cup winners 2015 hull city won't be on any trophies that may be won Hull City will be remembered for previous endeavours I sure do like the hull city bit.. I don't know why but while we are city, it seems an even bigger achievement that we were playing like the likes of Lincoln & torquay and the likes. . And now signing internationals and currently high up in the English football pyramid The name change would definitely make me lose the connection to our past when looking at league tables and other such things Our history doesn't actually change but as stated the perception does and that's the biggest element
I agree, the perceptions would change. For good or ill, a name change would represent the beginning of a new chapter in the story of the club.
That's one way of viewing it, but that's a seperate argument to the fact that the 'new' name would replace the old one in many cases when our history is being referred to.
no one is denying that it will end....... you are saying that it will change - I am saying that it will get added to.
You don't seem to have a clue what you're saying, you just seem to have an urge to say anything in the hope people talk to you.
It will be a new club. The existing one is Hull City and has been for 110 years. Let someone start a new club at Melton if they want their own new club. The funds of Hull City supporters have kept our club alive for over a century and ensured we have a long history intertwined with the long history of other clubs. I think Tampax is very marketable. 'Tigers' is very common and irrelevant. Castleford and Leicester are just two professional sports clubs within a 100 mile radius, never mind the rest of the planet. Tampax is unique and would appeal to half the human race- it's a great name isn't it?
You cannot change history. Only mould / help the future. Even if we do change from next season to Hull Tigers the clubs history from 1904 to 2014 will be Hull City. Who knows, Hull Tigers may have a much better future than Hull City Afc have had in the past. Twt.
Great idea. I think Mercedes Benz ought to change their name. When the board and shareholders get round to discussing it you could go and suggest they may have a better future than Mercedes had in the past. Let us know how you get on.
