There's something wonderful about the space on a pitch, and how much conditioning, determination, analysis and practice can do to enable a player arrive at the right places in it at the right times. Kane at this point may be on track to be the best striker since Greaves, and is doing it without any sublime gifts. Ivan Lendl once turned the question of talent around when he suggested he had a talent for practicing longer and harder than others. That seems to be Kane's gift as well. Dele is a bit of both Kane and Greaves, I think, in having both great gifts and tremendous determination. Two years ago he was a League 1 DM, and today, at 21, he's among the PL's leading scorers playing an indefinable position. His career trajectory is unearthly. In any case, it's truly a privilege to watch Kane, Dele, Eriksen and Son work together to bamboozle defenders.
Dele is probably a more gifted athlete. He has the look of a middle distance runner and could probably run all day and not feel tired. Harry's athleticism is something that he's had to create for himself and his finishing is famously based on vast amounts of practice. He has great vision and understanding of the game that allows him to link up play so well. He's a naturally gifted footballer but a bit of a manufactured line-leading striker Dele's skills look more 'off the cuff' but Karl Robinson says that there wasn't a day that went by where Dele didn't nutmeg him in training. Again his reading of the game is exceptional and I'm not sure that can be taught. The common link is their intelligence. Toby Alderweireld has it as does Harry Winks. The English game has produced too few players in the past few decades who have improved as much as these two have after breaking through at club and international level. We have had too few Gareth Bales and too many Rooneys and Wilshires who have made too little of their skills and athleticism and spent too much time in the pub and too little improving what they had when they were 20 years old. Let's hope that Spurs continue to lead from the front in showing what hard work and intelligence can produce - world class footballers who aren't arseholes.
Wilshire is a dire waste of talent. England could have constructed a pretty tasty midfield around him, Dele, etc...
I just hope we keep hold of Kane for as long as possible. We've had 3 top seasons from him, usually we lose our best players after 2.

Is this just your generic response to anything you don't agree with? It's like you think you can turn up on a rival team's board and find it awash with compliments and adoration for your team's players; a notion which in and of itself thoroughly deserves a and a .
Is this as articulate as you get? Disagree if you want but that is a ludicrous response to Brian's post.
I think that Lidls might take exception to that! It's board policy. We have to have one Utd wum on here or they finish above us, I'm afraid.
Back on topic though, what is Harry's ceiling do we think? He's probably now had what we can call his early years, and is entering what most consider prime goal scoring age for the next 5-7 years. Is it blindly partisan/optimistic of me to think he could challenge Shearer's record, injuries and transfers (god forbid) permitting?
Or can he challenge Rooney (who apparently wasted his career) by becoming top goal scorer ever for club and country?
