For the first time in living memory I see a manager who is working to a game plan that I firmly believe will take us to another level if he is given the time..
Mate, I do believe in Gus, I think he's fantastic, I'm just not able to see that Ellis will back him to the levels required to genuinely become a decent force. I'm a Sunderland fan Reg, so my opinion could be changed completely by one choice signing, but as it stands, no, I can't see us ever beating that 10th spot under Bruce.
Spot on mate, hate been the killer on these boards and that's why I don't talk football unless it's at a game. Nice one S we share the same **** vision.. On a footnote, happy new year to you and yours, take good care & hope the bouncy bouncy music is being good to you Always the best from me but you know that..
I think sometimes what gets missed with the passing game, is that teams who use these tactics don't usually have a 20 goals a season striker. Because of the tactics deployed, unless catching a team on the break, it's generally slower build up play which allows more midfielders to push forward and for them to chip in plenty as well. Who's going to score 8-12 goals from midfield for us?
Paolo as regards your question over being able to loan a decent striker think: January 2013 Remy to QPR, January 2012 Ba to West Ham. Great strikers to clubs fighting relegation, though in fairness both clubs did go down...
Loic Remy signed for QPR permanently mate, as did Ba, if you recall they paid £5.5million, and allowed him a free transfer clause for relegation.
Ha. Still, what it does show is that good strikers can be bought in January! Ba, surely will be available for at least a loan, and I swear he would single handedly keep us up. Problem is, bigger boys, Arsenal refused to pay a £4million loan fee, maybe that's half now, and add wages, cost us £5million or so maybe. Pays for itself about 14-fold if we stay up.
top six clubs will not loan to top half clubs, poyets chelsea connection could help us here just saying
probably how was your bottle of whiskey and cigar? tried ringing you on NYE/D, couldnt get through and been mostly dying since
I think the top and bottom is that heads roll and arses stink. We are Sunderland, we bleed it, we spew it, we think of it all the time and we love it, whatever it is day and night.. It's being part of a community that wears red'n white and usually talks ****e after a beer or three.. It's us from all walks of life, shaded here on a fcuking forum giving our views.. It's us all shouting ha'way the lads, from the galleys, the gutters, the boozers, the offices, the suburbs, the ****houses wherever.. but it's one of the same, we are all genetic mad bastards simply because we all together shout.. Ha' fcukin way the laaaaaaaaads..
“I don’t want to sell Fletcher. He’s our top scorer and he’s the one who is going to score the goals and make the difference. [But] If someone comes with £25million or £30million, [then] pick a name!” Gus Poyet on Hull wanting Fletcher
You know what ****s me off most though, it's how we get it so wrong, constantly. Let's look at Swansea. We have a bigger ground, bigger crowds, history, a better academy, a chairman worth some 40 or 50 times more than theirs, they were 4 divisions away 5 or 6 years back, how the **** do we now find ourselves so hopelessly behind them? Norwich, 2 divisions below us 3 years back, signing Dutch internationals etc, despite a perceived lack of real backing. The people responsible for this carnage are the ****ing idiots who find the players, and the bigger ****ing idiots that approve the transfers. We paid £6million for Gardner for **** sake, £5million for Graham. It's a ****ing shambles.
No bids for Fletcher - yet. We need to keep him it would be mad to sell him for £6M. http://www.safc.com/news/team-news/2014/january/poyets-cup-preview
