You didn't need two forwards to replace Torres. Your manager and owners just felt the need to show they were spending the cash they got from Torres, to avoid reactionary fans claiming they were selling off the club's prize asset and not replacing him. And as most businessmen will tell you, a decision made in haste and under pressure is likely to be a bad one...

We think Torres was funny for 50m, shame we blew it on that lump... I'd rather torres up front with Suarez behind. Would have been awesome.

As a neutral supporter of neither Liverpool or Utd, my take on Carrol/Forlan is as follows...
Carrol can be a fantastic player, if used in the correct way. He can cause the best defenders in the world all sorts of trouble if the wingers gave him the ammunition. Liverpool are not utilising his skills adequately..he will not run into space, run onto through-balls, and will not take players on. BUT, whip in an inviting cross into the box, and he'll get his head onto it. I know this may sound like he's a one-trick pony, but f@@k me what a trick to possess, which is what Newcastle used to do. Liverpool need to start looking to their wide men to supply the ammo to Carrol.
In any case, not worth 35mill, but thats not his fault. What is his fault, is the fact that he's a lazy, money-grabbing prima donna who thinks he's better than he actually is. His attitude is poor (as you can tell from the scraps he's had in nightclubs) and Liverpool need to either out him and count their losses, or use him, and not progress up the table.
As for Forlan, good player at UTD, a tad unlucky...but had fantastic work ethic, which you cant say about Carroll

Carroll can't even control the ball. I have better control than that, and Liverpool can have me for free if they put me on his wages.

I think the scousers made a massive mistake buying Carroll. He was never going to be a new Torres. He is just not fast or skillful enough. Are the scousers going to change their whole system to accommodate him? Newcastle were playing to his trengths but will the scousers sacrifice Suarez and others's effectiveness just to get Carroll more inot the game. Carroll is a lazy donkey and it shows a lot about Dalglish poor judgment that he paid £35 million for him. How much did Aguero or Silva cost?

It was as far as I know the plan to partner him with Torres. Seemed a good plan expect for Torres to jump ship <laugh>.
