I love Martin Skrtel, but should not be allowed to hold Liverpool to ransom. I am not aware how much improvement is in his new contract.
I think he should be given a reasonable offer not as much as 150k per week:laugh:

Let him go. Get £10m for him now and upgrade him. Howedes is available.

Too many contract leaks these days, and club is losing control.

Agents not the club are to blame for leaks.

I don't recall so many leaks under Rafa or Kenny...

I don't think many players dared to speak out in public against the club or manager under these two.

Just indicates where the club is now, and how players haev little respect for the manager or authority at the club.

    they were rife.

carragher used to leak team sheets to his mates on cup games all the time under rafa.

I used to get the team list a day early and bet on young lads getting a game.

Our club has been a leaky seive for many many years.

I would agree it was RARE that any player would dare cross rafa. they all spoke out after like benayoun or rieria etc...

Sterling and before suarez have been totally out of order. Suarez example from the club did not stop sterling thinking he could do it.

Klopp open to Premier League move
Interesting - and sure to get Liverpool fans talking.

    Dortmund head coach Jurgen Klopp
Brendan Rodgers has been backed to stay as Liverpool manager - but Jurgen Klopp's agent, Marc Kosicke has admitted the former Dortmund manager would be interested in a move to the Premier League.

He's also added that Klopp would be happy to work for a club outside the Champions League - and one that employs a sporting director.

“The Premier League is very exciting,” Kosicke told SPOX. “And we do not only think about the top four because there are some other great clubs below them. But I am not sure the profile of the job could work.

“In Germany there is a clear separation between manager and sporting director and I think in principle this is very good. Jürgen does not like to speak to players’ agents or to carry out a transfer. So we have to see which is the most useful arrangement.”

“It is always all about the challenge. When Jürgen signed for Dortmund there were other clubs who had better prestige and were in better financial mood at this time. Nevertheless he decided for Dortmund.

“He has the great ability to develop things. If he goes into a stadium, feels the energy and thinks that he can make a difference here, this could be more attractive to him than going with the big deals and aim for the treble.”

If he'd spent half the season in the relegation zone but was called Bropp we'd all be happy

If he was called Brenden Rodgers, spent 120m, took your team from 2nd to 6th and got trounced by stoke 6-1 and fielded a 2nd string team against Real whilst writing yourselves into Scouse folklore for getting you to a champions league group stage, you'd be ecstatic and give him a new 10 year contract if you were astro

Liverpool made a huge error not sacking Brendan Rodgers
Brendan Rodgers has shown that he can’t be trusted and Liverpool have made big mistake by not firing him, writes Paul Parker.
By Eurosport 23 hours ago Paul Parker

    Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers
Liverpool finished second in 2013-14 but, let’s be honest: that was a freak result that meant nothing. Luis Suarez dragged them there.
However, Liverpool knew he would be going but they did not prepare for it. They were never going to compete this season.
Let’s also be clear, if Liverpool had won the league, Suarez still would not have stayed. He had made his mind up that he wanted to play for an elite-level team.
Their transfer policy in the wake of Suarez’s exit was a disaster. The transfer committee appears to be shouldering the blame for this but unless Brendan Rodgers comes out and explicitly says that he fought tooth and nail against last summer’s acquisition policy then the buck stops with him.
He would have had the final say on transfers - and if he didn’t then he should not be managing Liverpool Football Club. Liverpool’s strategy failed and there is only one person you can look at.
As manager he should be signing players he wants to work with, and if he doesn’t have the final say on who those players are then he is allowing other people do his job. I am sure he would have had the final say at Swansea, Watford and Reading - though we have to remember he was sacked at Reading.
I won’t even name the others players who failed, because it'll be a lot quicker and easier to simply name those who didn't.
The only player who has been a success last season was Adam Lallana. However, he appears to be some sort of scapegoat – every time Liverpool are not playing well, Rodgers substitutes him off. Emre Can has received his fair share of plaudits but he has been played out of position in defence and has cost them goals on more than one occasion. He was signed as a central midfield player but Rodgers doesn’t want to play him there.
And now it seems that their moment has gone. Liverpool had an opportunity to move on from second, but Rodgers and the club blew it. Players of Champions League quality will not want to sign for them now. They were poor in Europe and that stems from the manager. Liverpool can no longer attract big players.
Their business so far this summer – bringing in Danny Ings and James Milner – says it all. Solid, not spectacular. The sort of players who'll get you in the Europa League, all being well.
Ings did well for Burnley but tapered off towards the end of the season, so, he score more at Liverpool with better players around him but we will have to wait and see. He is a far better bet than Rickie Lambert ever was, though.
Milner is known for his work ethic more than anything. He has won two Premier League titles but will be able to play alongside Jordan Henderson? I am not sure how well that will work.
They had an opportunity to move on from second but Rodgers and the club blew it. Players of Champions League quality will not want to sign for them now. They were poor in Europe and that stems from the manager. Liverpool can no longer attract big players.
Manchester United had no Champions League football on offer last season but were still able to attract big players. Louis van Gaal is a revered manager and he managed to attract top players – players trust Van Gaal.
Who in their right mind would trust Rodgers that way? What big player will trust him?
What top quality player would trust Rodgers to bring in the right talent alongside him in the transfer market?
Who would trust Rodgers to get them a chance to play in the Champions League?
Who is going to trust Rodgers when he allowed two of his staff – Colin Pascoe and Mike Marsh – to take the blame for last season’s failings? Rodgers has lost a lot of respect for the way those two were fired. They were made scapegoats.
If your backroom staff that you employed got sacked then you have to go with them. He makes the decisions; he should have fallen on his sword.
That will play on players and agents’ minds. Can they trust him? This will impact on the calibre of player they can attract.
Liverpool spent years getting themselves back into a position where they might have been able to land a really big fish. They missed the bus completely, and now it looks like they are back to establishing themselves as a solid, unspectacular team - an Ings or Milner-calibre team, in other words - and try to push on from there.
Rodgers is very, very lucky to still be Liverpool manager. If Jurgen Klopp and Carlo Ancelotti had not decided to go sabbaticals then I am pretty sure that Rodgers would no longer be Liverpool boss.
Liverpool's owners made a huge mistake not sacking the Northern Irishman over the summer. If the Reds haven't shown huge improvement by November, they won't make the same mistake again.
