Ish. I still think we need a proper CB, as our best one is injury prone and all the others are ****.

TBH, I'd consider it a successful summer if we sold all the **** as well, Lambert, Balotelli, Borini, Aspas, Alberto, Enrique. That way we could afford to spend big on a couple of quality players, fees and wages.

  2. We can do with signing a quality gk, lb, cb, cb, dm, cm, cm, cf & cf to play alongside Flanno & Coutinho ;)

Replacing Brendan Rodgers will not be the best solution except we get someone better than him.<ok>

We're still not creating that many clear cut chances. Agree - we have missed chances but the crux of the issue is that we're simply not creating enough.

But we don't need to improve the squad - we need to improve the first team and ALL resources should be going towards that.

Ings brings us nothing and I'd sooner keep Mario.

And we need a DM before we bring in a CM.

If Ings is one of our main signings I'm out. And Rodgers should be or whoever actually makes the ****ing decisions. The cookie monster probably. Nowhere near the level we need that player and cookie monster would score more

I doubt Ings will be a main signing - he'll be 3rd/4th choice striker. But even so, why waste £4m on a player who offers nothing more than what Borini already does?

How much money is reported to be available for transfers this summer? I assume a number of players will be sold which will add a few quid to the transfer pot.

FSG have always seemed more concerned with the wage bill than transfer fees so I don't think there is a fixed amount, it depends on the overall financial commitment

I also assume a number of players will be sold. I'm not assuming that we'll get (much) money for them (except if a "big" player like Sterling goes).

Sell Lambert, Coates, Borini, Mario, Aspas, Alberto - I think there's roughly £30-40m ...

Of course we do. If Sturridge is out we have 0 other decent options.

If Henderson is out we lack a lot of energy in the middle as shown by the final 3 games last year.

Yes ive always said buy first team players and the current lot will then become squad players and you gradually improve but it's not that easy. Money is a huge issue because we can't afford to be having players like Johnson, Lucas, skrtel earning over 100k and sitting on the bench.

I understand what you're saying but I think it's easy to forget some of the chances created because the finishing was very poor. Which is borne out by squaka - 'chances created' - very interesting and not a lot in it between these - Chelsea 435, Arsenal 429, Liverpool 424, ... then you have City 522, [utd 385]. Plus we've had more shots per game than Chelsea and about the same shots on target per game. That definitely looks like wasted chances rather than not many chances which is what my view was before looking at the stats.

    Thats pretty optimistic.

    Lambert £2m
    Coates £2m
    Borini £5m
    Balotelli - £8m
    Aspas -£3m
    Alberto - £2m

Cant see see anyone paying anymore than those values for any of those players. That adds up to £25m and assumes we don't have to pay any of them off with wages etc

So Sturridge is out injured for 60% of the season - then our back up striker becomes our main striker for the rest of the season. You're happy with Ings or Origi playing that many games?

We need first teamers - Henderson is not that good. He's a good squad player, nothing more.

And it is far simpler - we're making it sound like we have to spend £20-30m on first team players. We don't. There are quality first teams who are available on bosmans like Schar and Konoplyanka. We could have got Shaqiri for 11m EUR instead of Lallana.

We signed Emre Can for £10m - roughly £6-8m cheaper than Henderson, but has far more ability and potential.

Using the Schar example, he's a RCB on a bosman. Sign him and you can then sell Skrtel for £10m, and you've made a profit instantly whilst simultaneously improving the first XI. That's how we need to do business.

Taking more shots is not an indication of quality chances created. Lot of the shots we take are speculative or long range.

Last season, we were creating 3-4 chances per game which should have ended up as goals. Those are clear cut chances.

Having a pot shot from outside of the box is not chance.

I was thinking Borini and Balotelli would get £10m each. Aspas would get £5m? He's had a very good season at Sevilla with the potential of winning the EL.

And that's pretty pessimistic, the total would be closer to £30m than your £22m
