To a certain extent you're right but on this one I reckon BR could have been a tad more supportive of AC if he wanted him to stay (if it was all media speculation and he was desperate to keep him then fair to say he would have come out and said so). I don't think its much of a secret thhat we've been entertaining bids for him and would have sold if a big enough offer came in.

Why keep a negative influence who doesn't want to be there around the players who still want to be there?

I guess they (the other Spurs players) think he's a bit of a dick aswell, seeing as he's basically saying they aren't good enough to be his teammates and he deserves to be playing around better quality players.

Just awaiting a 'short back and sides' and we will know that is the work of Brendan. <ok>

  4. Rodgers could have 100% been more supportive of Carroll, like he was with Suarez. However, he also likes to not highlight individuals, preferring to talk about the team. From the interviews and quotes I have seen, Rodgers has not said anything about wanting to sell Carroll, he just didn't say he was staying put. He's openly said that all players have their price which is 100% correct, just not everyone agrees with actually saying it <ok>

The Spurs lot seem to have quietened down about us just recently. Let's hope AVB keeps it that way. <ok>

I know where you're coming from but then didn't Modric sign a new long term deal only a couple of years ago? So he's fine to sign the contract so he can get the wages but doesn't like it when Spurs take advantage of being in a better bargaining position. Surely that's his own fault

  8. You could twist that around and say he signed a contract meaning Sours can get more money for him. I know it is not quite the same but still...

Am I right in think Modric has two years left on his deal...? If Spurs don't get the reported £40m they want for him this summer, the will stand to get a hell of a lot less next year when he only has one year left, had to that a whole years of wages for a unhappy player along with the 'bad apple' situation, it doesn't look too good for the spuds.

PS - I did say about him signing his contract further up too <ok>

Yup. Its funny because they spent last season laughing at Villas-Boas calling him **** etc, only for him to be appointed as their manager this season. They're having to keep a low profile while they alter their opinion of him from "**** manager" to "promising young manager".

  10. And it is dependent on what happens with Modric too.

Sigurdson to be his replacement...??? <whistle>

Yeah, 'Arry was their saviour up until February/March. They were quick to criticize our high regard for Kenny but the way they turned on 'Arry after helping them to punch above their weight for the last 3/4 seasons was a tad hilarious.

Will be interesting to see them without Adebayor and Modric this season. Modric influence is probably equal to Alonso's influence on our team under Rafa, if they don't replace him well they could really struggle, especially when they've already lost a striker who scored 17 goals and had 11 assists last season.

Btw, have you seen HIAG's quotes from last season on the Arsenal board? There was some hilarious quotes on there, I'll try find the thread the Arsenal fans made.

If the current reports are true, Jermain Defoe is on his way out of WHL, which will mean Spurs will be the first team in the premiership to have no strikers. They won't be the first to play with no strikers, that was Everton, but the difference is Everton had strikers but chose not to use them.

How have we gone back on a deal? Cos Harry said so?
We were offered £40m last summer so suprisingly enough we want that much this summer...are you seriously suggestion that we bend over and let Real Madrid (the 2nd or 3rd richest club in the world sign him for what they want?

Then again i'm sure you'd let Suarez go for £30m if Real come knocking cos it would be rude to get more <doh>

As for the original post I think it's a mistake but then again I have no faith in AVB. Anyone who underates and alienates Drogba, Lampard, Alex and Anelka to such a degree in 3 months doesn't display great judgement.

Whether or not he is right in regards to Modric, i don't know?? You could easily argue it both ways!

One thing i will say is i like AVB ... People questioning him about his time at Chelsea really gets to me, especially when the topic about the old guard (Drogba and Lampard) gets brought up ... Abromavich wanted new players in, he was unhappy with the style of play Chelsea were playing and the main task AVB had was to shake things up bring in new players and adapt to a different style, lets not forget he was probably under pressure from the start to get the best out of Torres too, i mean if you spend 50 mill on any player you expect him to be starting and playing a pivotal part.

Things didn't go to plan quite clearly due to many reasons, mainly the unsettled dressing room and the old guard taking dislike to slowly being ousted, but to see RDM come in and revert to the Chelsea that was playing the season before indicates to me that Abromovich bottled it big time ... IMO things take time like we'll learn from Rodgers and AVB had a massive task and if RDM had the same task he would of been shown the door even earlier i reckon.

I have no idea how he will do at Spurs (hopefully not good) but i like him and i think if people give him a chance to do things his way Spurs may just reap the rewards ... I actually was hoping for AVB over Rodgers and Martinez to manage us, but from listening to Rodgers in his first 2 months i couldn't be more happier!!

It was the defensive high-line that turned me off AVB. I do agree having listened to Brendan Rodgers has made me optimistic. When Hodgson was appointed, I didn't get a buzz, it was flat. Brendan Rodgers in the way he speaks, gives and I doubt it if its just me a buzz.

Agreed! ... I guess he's a bit stubborn over his high defensive line as it worked so well for him at Porto, but the Prem could not be more different! He'll learn though he's still incredibly young for a manager and IMO will go far, whether it be with Spurs though, again i dont know...

surprises me when working class fans have a problem because an overpaid footballer is being made to honour his contact...fukin amazing!

and it is not AVB's shout wether he goes or not...but dont let this get in the way.

I hope AVB uses the defensive high-line at Spurs, it just means that Arsenal will be our only challengers for a top four spot.

I think Newcastle might have something to say about that.
