Don't think he has ever tried to get it wrong - I just think he though running a football club was going to be a piece of piss. Now he seems to understand more what needs to be done and with him being a very good business man, he is starting to do stuff right.

If somebody comes in and offers over the top money for one of our players, he will accept it as would any owner other than City's and Chelsea's. Not saying I like him, never will do - but, got to agree that he is probably starting to get stuff right and long may that continue

The ship is steady at the moment, but knowing him he'll hoy a few icebergs in the water. We seem to lurch from one crisis to the next with a little break in between. I'm sure there'll be another catastrophe around the corner. Not that I want one like, I'm quite enjoying being a fan at present. <ok>

Still don't trust him not to **** it all up, don't think I ever will trust him 100% after what he's done.

    This exactly.

Waiting to see how he reacts for potential 15m bids for players like Tiote and Cabaye.

If he sells I'll be calling for his head again.

We can't keep chopping and changing and hoping that the team will gel as easily as it has done now.

I'm totally failing to see what it is Mike Ashley has done?

What is it he's getting right?

Alan Pardew's appointment has worked out really well results wise, but then again so did the appointment of Chris Hughton.

Are people congratulating Mike Ashley for NOT spending the money we got for Andy Carroll?

It's all subjective to the results - if we were where Sunderland were a week ago, there wouldn't be articles like this.

As I said, it's subjective to the results. When the results aren't as good I think people will have a more balanced view.

I'm enjoying the feel-good factor that Newcastle United are currently enjoying and long may it continue - I still don't actually see what it is that Mike Ashley needs to be congratulated on.

Firstly Good article, I just hope a team like Man U who are desperate for a new CM dont come knocking in January! Although to be fair they have already spent big and their owners are as tight as Ashley..

Well one of Ashleys weaknesses in our eyes has actually been one of his strengths he hasnt just thrown money about to please fans, and we have improved financially and have alot less debt. He has introduced a wage cap which every club needs now, so we are more attractive to potential buyers... So he can be congratulated on stabilising us financially (this is by no means complete but we are getting there).

All clubs are having to fall into line with the new 'Financial Fair Play' rules so I think it's a little ambitious to heap praise on Ashley for that.

In fact, it would make more financial sense to invest NOW before the new rules limit spending power directly to the club's income.

I wasn't exactly "heaping" praise on Ashley' just saying that at last he seems to be running the club more sensibly. We are quick enough to slate him when he makes a cock up, so I guess he deserves some credit for the sensible measures he is putting in place., no?

As i've explained, he has no choice but to run the club on a sound financial footing as those rules will be in place soon anyway.

    So, er, NO.

The results are masking pretty much everything that has gone on before - have you all forgotten that we were promised a replacement for Andy Carroll? Demba Ba is doing well and many would argue he is the replacement.

Alan Pardew has stated we need another striker and was actively trying to get one, (so we're told), and so we'll all look to the next transfer window.

I wont be expecting much activity.

So you are not happy that he sanctioned the purchase of players like Cabaye, Tiote, HBA, Marveaux, abeid etc. All of whom fit the profile of the type of player that he said that he wanted to bring in? You are not happy that we have a better squad than last year?

As i've already said, i'm really enjoying our unbeaten start to life this season.

Pardew bought good players to replace the ones that have left/been sold and they are blending nicely under Pardew's management - as for Ashley sanctioning the purchases? What would be the alternative? NOT replacing Andy Carroll, Kevin Nolan, Jose Enrique & Joey Barton?

    I really don't think so.

If you want to praise Ashley then go right ahead, knock yourself out - I just don't see that he deserves any credit for all the reasons i've already given.

Ashley is not being forced to do anything. The financial rules only apply to teams competing in European competition.
