Totally agree with you Gangsta. I didn't think it was a bad penalty, he went for the drive down the middle, Almunia got lucky with his legs, but his 2nd save was superb. Knocky reacted quickest, tried to dink the keeper (which anyone would have done) but Almunia reacted superbly. Don't think anyone else would have done differently, apart from maybe putting it in one of the corners. At least he had the bottle to say "that's mine, I'm taking it" (but in a french accent )
With regards to the OP. What's going to happen to Watford'inese next season, now they've failed to make the promised land??? Haven't the Football League closed the loophole they took advantage of with regards to their 'loan' of the Udinese 2nd 11???
The Football League have supposedly closed this loophole but Watford fans still reckon they can get past it.
The loophole has been closed. Ollie was baiting them over the weekend about it The football League have to verify every signing Watford make so whether they will even be allowed to buy or sign players from Udiense next season is debateable
1. It wasn't a loophole - the rules specifically allow all clubs to loan as many players from abroad as they like; 2. The rules have not yet been changed - all clubs will vote on it at the league's general meeting later this summer. But the last indication that I saw was that clubs were going to keep the rule as it is; 3. Watford do have to submit paperwork to the FA before concluding transfers. This has nothing to do with the loan system, but their previous owner diverting money from transfers to himself. It is a toothless embargo and only lasts until August anyway.
These players are not on loan. They've been sold to Watford and will sign back for Udinese/Granada as far as i'm aware.
I may be misunderstanding your post AKCJ, but the players were on season long loans. Under the FL regulations, a loan from a club that is not in the English league does not go towards your loan quota as they are classed as transfers.
That's not correct, they're on loan. From yesterday's team, Pudil and Anya are on loan from Granada, Cassetti, Ekstrand, Abdi, Vydra, Battocchio and Geijo are on loan from Udinese and Chalobah is on loan from Chelsea.
I think Hollowhead has jumped the gun a bit, there are plenty of articles of the proposed loophole being closed, but none on it actually having happened. It has to go to a vote at the football league clubs annual meeting and I believe that's not actually taken place yet.
There are potentially all sort of unfair advantages and far reaching repercussions if Watford, or any other club, is allowed to abuse the system like that again. Potentially, Watford could ignore FFP if Udinese/Granada pay the majority of their "loanees" wages, meaning they could be playing an even stronger team than last season when many of us will be forced to weakened our squads (something we've already had to start working on after Sven). If we all start to follow Watford's example and loan from abroad to get round FFP (not that other clubs will be as willing as Watford's sister clubs), then this will start to damage the development of domestic talent, which is already in decline because of the state of the Premier League. It needs sorting now.
That was different... he did something that should be reserved for the training field. But I agree Kermo shouldn't have been treated like he was because of one incident. However, it didn't help that he hardly contributed anything to that season! It was the Holloway situation again - although you have to say he was treated harshly and has gone on to prove he's better than he showed with us, it would have taken something near God-like to ever be forgiven. Easier to let them rebuild their careers elsewhere.
