The simple answer to whether any of our new signings will cut the mustard (all 13 of them) is we simply don't know yet. However, the bigger question is will the manager be bold dough or confident enough to start playing more if them. With JOS suspension for the next game and with the best midfield in the EPL up next, my gut feeling is he might not but rather stick with Gardner and Larsson. If he he does go bold then perhaps we will see this team in two weeks time. Westwood Celutska Roberge Diakite Dossena Cabral Colback Johnson Ki Giacherinni Fletcher Subs: Manonne Cuellar Larsson Altidore Borini Mavrias Gardner My gut feeling is we will see Wickham on a short term 4 or 5 month loan at a championship club in the next week or so, as he isn't grabbing his chances here. Borini hadn't signed to be 4th or 5 th choice striker. I think Ji will be off on loan too.
I agree that Ji may be shipped out on loan, but I still have faith that Wickham will start to show his worth this season..
I think that this squad will be good enough till January, by which time Di Fanti would have been in talks with a few clubs about players, more than likely a CM with the Keys, and possibly a LB. I feel Dossena was a make shift signing as we had missed out on 4 or 5 of our top targets. Jan will see us offload Bardo, Vaughn, and bring in 1-2 players. 2 i think.
Agree with the Wickham loan, hes not getting in ahead of Fletch and Altidore but we have to see how Altidore's injury is first before sanctioning the loan.
You may well be right but we can't be in too bad fettle if our 5th choice is an Italian international who's played in Europe and did well last season. I'ts a one year deal so, to me, that means we have another option lined up who we couldn't get in this window. Much better than having Bardsley 'filling in' or wasting Colback who doesn't seem happy there. I still believe Wickham 'has it' somewhere and I like him on the bench and in the squad for cup games.
I watched Dossena last season on loan at Palermo, and he didn't do anything to set the world on fire. HOWEVER, I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, as Palermo last year was a circus. 5 managers in one year, 2 of which were the same one sacked twice and brought on twice.. The skunks think they have it bad with Fat Mike, they should try Zamparini. As you said, an Italian international... he can't be that bad. I think Wickham is more of an impact sub. I would like him to go on loan and get game time, prob at Boro. He needs it. I do think he will be a good striker, but needs to be playing, and it unfortunately isnt at the SoL.
The only thing about yesterday's signings is that none of them were first teamers, they may become first teamers but they are squad fillers at the minute. I am quite excited about Borini as he is highly rated amongst Italians and their national set up, could be a little gem and our luck with loan signings is quite good (Welbeck, Evans, Rose, Kyriakos! haha)
Would, in certain games, like too see Giacchy moved into the central role with Mav or Karrlson on the left wing.
