this and as tiote has proven you don't have to spend big to find a gem if you've got the scouting network in place

There are a lot of good players in the French, Belgian, Dutch and German leagues whose games are suited to the English game and those leagues usually don't have exorbitant transfer fees in place.

These are the leagues that Carr has been scouting.

I don't fear signing foreign players.

If Graham Carr approves then there is no reason to be wary of a flop IMO, granted he may not get another Tiote but anyone that is recommended will be more than capable of playing for this team domestically and europe when we eventually get back there <ok>

Spain worries me as our track record there is appalling (Xisco,Marcelino,Luque etc), Don't mind us looking to the more reasonably priced holland or france though!!!

No, never have been and never will be - it's been happening for decades so quite why you're getting yourself worked up is a mystery.

Some players, no matter where they are from, take time to settle in - remember Scott Parker? He's English, one of the best midfield players in the country right now but he simply didn't hit it off up here despite being made captain.

Nope. As previously stated, British players are well overpriced. In my opinion, at a reported 10-12 million, I think Sturridge is slightly overpriced. I'd much rather have Gervinho. He's more versatile.

I don't care who we get, British or other. As long as we don't pay out of the arse for them, they don't command stupid wages, they have a good team attitude, and they play well on the pitch. nationality doesn't matter.

One of the signings of the season. He's the only United player I like...

he seems like a genuinely nice guy too. always plays with a smile on his face, never complains and i've never even seen him dive [yet]. intelligent and humble too. a rare but refreshing sight to see in a footballer nowadays

    You are right, of course.

There is always a risk involved though and just because a player is proven in this league does not meant they will fit with the squad either.

I feel the best way forward is loans with view to buy, then we get a taster of how well they adapt and whether they fit into the team.

Other comments about english players being over-priced are quite right as well.

Tiote was a steal, but if we sold him now he'd be a small fortune. This factor will see MA keen to import I would imagine.

Agree entirely! I quite like the twins when they first arrived/starting playing for you but now even they seem to have become mouthy little ****s! I hope Hernandez can avoid this for another couple of seasons at least!
