My heart sank BEFORE the game when I found he was in charge. It's not just a Saints thing, I've read lots of feedback on various forums of fans of other clubs all saying much the same about D'Urso. As someone above pointed out, he was DEMOTED from the Premiership for poor officiating and the powers that be deem it ok for him to carry on being crap week in and week out in the Football League. I generally feel sorry for refs because its a thankless impossible job most of the time, but with D'Urso, I really do think that bloke has teams that he doesn't like.
I wasn't there and haven't seen the incident, but someone with Rickie's impeccable disciplinary record must have had massive provocation, or perhaps I should say even more provocation than usual to retaliate at all.
He seems to like provoking controversy, a bit like Graham Poll used to. The two teams should provide the headlines, but D'Urso wants them too. The best refs, are the ones that don't get remembered.
