You asked if he was quickest - He's not and you were proved wrong.
You then stated not quickest but top 5-10 - He's not and you've been proved wrong again.
    Now your arguing with facts.
Aye he's nippy but he's nowhere near as fast as you think he is. Not even close.

You need to get yourself appointed as an official for the Olympic 100m. They could do away with timing equipment and just go on who you think looks quickest. Almiron is 4th quickest in our squad. Murphy, Willock and St Maximin are all faster.

They will do timed sprints regularly in training to assess this.

I think it does depend on the environment in which they measure this. South Americans are not generally renowned for their speed but do move a lot quicker when going across the Mexican-US border.

Stupid comparison really considering footballers don't win anything for speed and Olympic runners do.

I wont nitpick too much at your reasoning like others have done here because it's just supposed to be a relatively informal football forum.

That's why it was a question, not a statement of absolute fact.

And also you haven't proven anything. You displayed evidence which suggests it may not be true, but you haven't displayed enough evidence to prove anything.

Copy and pasting a table of recorded times doesn't prove who's the fastest because you're assuming all players fastest sprints have actually been recorded.

No but I thought this thread was about speed. The only way to measure that properly is to actually get them doing sprints. When we were training for football we used to do them over half the length of the pitch (~50m).

If the recorded speeds are actually the result of every premier league player being recorded in a controlled setting sprinting at top speed for the purposes of finding out their top speed, then I have my answers.

You both need to recognise my thread was titled as a question, not a statement of fact.

    This is a good point.

Generally speaking, Chippy is not quick, but as soon as someone shouts "last one at the pub gets the beers in", he can suddenly really fly.

Think someone hit the nail on the head earlier - he's not especially fast really but he can still hit his top speed after 85mins when others don't have the engine to get out of second gear - like Caicedo's challenge at the end last Thursday - Miggy broke past him but Caicedo wasn't really even trying, he was battered by then and couldn't make it near him so just dangled a leg.

I honestly wouldn't have put him in the top 5 quickest NUFC players over a 40 meter sprint.
    ASM
    Murphy
    Isak
    Willock
    Gordon
all seem miles quicker to me.

OK, so maybe Tash edits the thread title - again - this time to:
"Does Almiron have a good turn of pace and can he sustain high energy for 90 minutes?"

Then we can all say YES and close the thread. <cheers>

Both thread titles were still questions, not declarative statements of fact.

    Let’s be generous to Tash
There are 20 premier league clubs with 25 named squads (for this we’ll ignore u21s) therefore 500 premier league players.
If he is “one of the quickest” I’d suggest he needs to be in the top 10%. 10% off 500 is 50. Soo the question now becomes is he in the top 50 quickest players?
