Agreed. Adel is always going to be a bit of a luxury, even accepting that he's really improved his work rate this season. A team scrapping at the bottom can't carry anyone, although the other side of that coin is that Taarabt will almost certainly be the best player to put Remy in. Not easy for Harry and I can see why he was left out and may be against Sunderland too.
I don't think we can have Taarabt, Townsend and Hoilett behind both Remy and Betty, but we could play the 3 of them behind Remy, with 2 holding players.
Worth adding that we've got others equally able to deliver a through ball for Remi to exploit. Trouble with Adel is you can never tell whether the pass will come or whether he's going to hold on to it for too long, faffing about. (Reason I highlight this is watching the difference between Man United and us. All quick, simple pass and move with them. Anything but with us - and a lot of passes are unnecessarily over ambitious and all too often end up going astray.)

If Remy and Zamora are fit they will always both play Remy will either be wide right or 2nd striker depending on the opposition. While Bothroyd does as much as he did today he will cover for Zamora in his absence This leaves 3 holding/creative central midfielders plus one out wide The one out wide will be Hoillet while he shows form or Townsend. This leaves Hoilett/Townsend as subs for each other Harry likes pace while the above are half OK Taraabt will just be playing last 15 and only then if we are losing. 2 months ago he was our only creative force and playing well. Now he is slow and a bit embarrassing I love him by the way but he has no pace (39 year old Giggs left him for dead over 40 meters) and he has been responsible for 2 opposition goals from corners recently. Harry like pace His best game by far was up front alone against Chelsea when we had no pace around him When he shoots from outside the box he misses the target by 15feet
Just back from Tenerife.....warm weather training for our 100m dash DT, impressed with your music taste you are moving up in my estimation, just like my boys in blue and white!.

Well I've read it again and I still must be missing the point. You said that if Taarabt doesn't play well we become a 0 man team with no creativity at all. Well, guess what. He wasn't even on the pitch yesterday and we did something we've not done in an age: Score twice and win! Please explain what you're banging on about Yorkie
I did an early version of the triathlon over 20 years ago, a round of golf on Saturday morning, followed by 2 hours of snooker followed by watching the Rs at Loftus Road. An excellent fitness regime...
Yeh we won 2-1 but we were pretty much cr*p other than that we were effective in front of goal for once and quite solid at the back. Only 3 shots on goal and only 5 at goal allafternoon says it all. That is why we need an in form Adel, one or two in midfield that can manage to pass the ball to a colleague, and a lot more players in the opositions box than we been getting there all seson, if we are to have a chance of staying up.We won't be playing teams as poor as Saints were yesterday; or be so lucky, that much again this season.
Can't argue with that Ozzie. Fair post. Yorkie's didn't make any sense though. Barely a day after Tarbs was dropped and we score twice and win our first game in God knows how long, he comes on and says if Taarabt doesn't play we've got zero creativity!! Baffling.
Well I wasn't impressed with Harold's team selection yesterday, but we won, so what do I know? At this stage and in our position I won't question any selection as long as we win, no matter how ugly.
That's very unfair. You have obviously both jumped in and not read the exchange between myself and Yorkshire. Not once did I mention Taarabt in the hours and days after the United game when everyone else was slating him. And here I was just responding to Yorkie's claim that without him we have zero creativity. Surely even you lads can see that that's a crazy thing to say right after we score two good goals and win a game? I wasn't having a go at Taarabt I was just making the point that we have other options. Please look back through the thread and read it.
intresting rerplies guys.... Just a point of intrest...AT didnt play, we won...so the question is again...why do we need him? Oz pointed out that we 5 (i think) shots on goal....thats crap for any team, but guess what..2 of them went in! i was slowly becoming more impressed with AT than ever before, but yesterdays game proved what i have been saying for a long time. Yes AT is a great talent, but without him we are forced to play as a team & find other options too "give it to Adel".. I dont doubt his ability at all, but that is what has been holding us back. We only have 1 gameplan. If he was injured, sold etc for the rest of the season, those players in the shadows would be afforded the opportunity and have to step up and deliver. Also, I'm as baffled with Yorkies comments as anyone. The score speaks for itself i think. This was not a poor Southampton side. Same side that spanked us at home...easily. still waiting for the usual comments & realy an suprised i didnt get the blame for this onee.... By the way Queenslandrangers is a good friend of mine and has always been VERY PRO Adel. ! Morning Norf
