OK lads, we have hit another problem as regards the Dublin meet up ie. 1st September the city is chocker with Yanks. How do people feel if we changed that to Sunday 23rd September 2012 for the away match against Tottenham? The only problem I see is that is the all-Ireland football final day. The city will be chocker that weekend too but it can be great fun with the two sets of fans around. Just checked Jurys Inn Parnell street and you can get an advance purchase room only rate of 73.44 for 2 people sharing a twin room. That is not bad. The only other problem I see is that some pubs will only be showing the gaelic football. I know a good Aussie sports bar that have multi screens and I am sure they will be showing the soccer game too. Thoughts on changing it to 23rd V Spurs and maybe some thoughts on how best to spread the word around that we are having two meets and how can we invite as many people from the UK to come over for our meet here and vice versa, how do we get the word out so as many Irish R's travel over in November?

As regards the London match 17th November V Southampton, I have gone ahead and booked my flights with Aer Lingus to Gatwick as outlined previously in this thread 77 euro return. So thats me plus the nephew booked.

Would you seriously spend a night in Finglas?

The Bronx is far safer than where I live.

Finglas, perhaps it is best to set up a poll on this site and put in a selection of games for the Dublin visit. Then let the masses decide and the highest voted date is the one.

Everyone is going to have a clash for some dates (Ciarrai Abu for example will think he's going to be going to Croker on All-Irl final day, etc).

Anyone good at setting up these poll thingies??

Good idea Corker. So, the logical choices are, any away game that is being televised or alternatively, any home game that is being televised.

We have two away games being televised,
Sat 1st Sept V Man City or
    Sun 23rd Sept V Tottenham

We have 3 home games being televised,
Mon 1st Oct V West Ham
    Sun 21st Oct V Everton
    Sun 4th Nov V Reading

Can somebody set us a poll so we can all vote and whichever get the most votes is the one we all go for??? Mods can you do it for us???

Are we all OK for the Southampton match as the match to go to on the London visit or do we need a vote on that too? By the way, I have booked flights for two more people so thats 4 booked in my party so far.

Finglas, i just booked 4 of us to go to London that weekend. With a caveat. My mate is coming with me and both our wife's. Health warning. Don't worry the girls are heading off on a Christmas shopping splash. We have booked our flights for the Friday evening and coming back on the flights you recommended. As we are all not coming back until late Sunday afternoon i suggest that we find a hotel fairly central so we can enjoy London later that Sat night. It might also allow some of our English friends on here the chance to drink and sing with us until late into the evening. Anyway, i will have the recce complete and the pre-match pub well secured before you all arrive. We can agree amongst ourselves which pre-match pub and which post-match pubs we will hit. Hopefully the lads from this forum will be able to meet us. I will start checking the internet for some cheap but cheerful hotel reasonably central in London to see what i can come up with. Does that suit?

The meeting in Dublin is going to be harder to agree on. The all Ireland finals will ensure a large crowd in Dublin but should not put us off completely, provided that we can find a pub that will show the match when their is GAA on. Also, several guys might not be able to make a Sunday/Monday with work the next day. Several of the matches are then too close to our HQ trip. Realistically I think that this makes Sat 01 Sept the best option although sadly for me I physically can't make that date. Another suggestion is that we concentrate on the HQ trip first and then plan for a Dublin meeting early in the new year. We don't have to do all at once.

I was slagging the Dubs football fans of course. Glad to see that you are a hurling fan mate and looking forward to meeting you soon to discuss our beloved hoops over a beer.

re the Dublin meet. it doesn't have to be before Xmas does it?
these tv fixtures only go as far as November. there's still 4 months after the hols to arrange a session?

OK fair enough NUTS. So your party of 4 are booked and my party of 4 are booked. Thats 8. Who said we won't get more than 7?

When we have definite numbers, we can approach the box office for group tickets. Please let us all know how you get on with regards to searching for hotels. I remember somebody on another QPR forum (think it was loft for words) saying a QPR fan had a B&B place in Hammersmith or something? Surely somebody who reads this board must work in a hotel or know a hotel who will do us a deal, ANYBODY???

As I said, I know a pub that will definetely show the match on 23rd September but if you all feel that we should wait till the second batch of tv fixtures are released, fair enough. The ideal would be to have a Saturday evening (ie ESPN) game.

I am a proud Dublin GAA fan NUTS and have seen the Dublin footballers play games in Wexford, Carlow, Newbridge, Longford, Mullingar, Navan, Newry, Lurgan, Crossmaglen, Enniskillen, Cavan, Limerick and Cork. My two sporting passions are QPR and Dublin GAA, in that order. Talk to you more about it over a pint.

The game is not till November Inked. I don't think tickets will be a problem. We can approach the box office as a group. I wrote to them a few weeks ago and they said it was too soon and they would get back to me. When we have a better idea of numbers, I will contact them again.

If anybody was planning on going to see a few matches, it might be worth your while getting a membership. It doesn't guarantee tickets but it would certainally help. I think all category C matches last year went to general sale. Memberships were £40 last year. If, (we can olny dream) we were to get to a cup final or something, you would be guaranteed a ticket.

For the moment, I would say book your flights to confirm your interest, we can all check hotel deals and maybe in 2/3 weeks, I will ask the box office about tickets when we have some idea of numbers. There is an Irish R's facebook group, I will ask if any of those lads are interested in going.

International R's, you are welcome to join in here too. If any of you want to join us at the Southampton match, book your flights and let us know and we can add you to the group.

Inke, won't have to share a room with you cause my wife is coming with me (excuse the pun). I'm taking my best mate. He is a Utd fan and has taken me to Trafford a few times. I have told him all about the atmosphere at HQ and he is looking forward to the trip. I'm heading on the Fri and will hopefully meet you all in our selected pub the morning of the match. Looking forward to some real beer and having a laugh. Talk soon.

It is called Irish R's Superhoops.

I invited the lads there today to the match and already, 5 have come back and said they are going. Thats at least 15 so far, so not bad.

finglas, just wondering do you have a tri-colour that you bring with you or is it worth getting one with the Irish R's on it? something like that?
    just a random idea.
corkeR rang me last night. he'd just finished a 180k charity bike run in killarney that's why he's so quiet! he said he's going for def but his preferred route would be into heathrow. so I'll prob go with him and cah.
