Irish Hoops

I know posts from Norwich fans go down with all the enthuiasm of Margaret Thatcher's underwear doing the same, but I was curious.

There seems to be a large contingent of Irish fans supporting your team, and I was wondering why. As a product of Irish parents myself, I would like to say Norwich is heavily supported, but it just isn't.

I would expect, indeed I know, that the big teams, especially - well, you know who, to have a large following, just wondered why QPR do too. It's not a wind-up, in fact, I have to admire people supporting a smaller, comparatively less successful club (than the big four).

Sensible, nay, any comments welcome.

Over the 60's and 70's a lot of the Irish who came to work in London were based in and around the West London and North West London areas. Obviously these Irish liked to see football played with style and QPR was the obvious choice. When they returned home they spread the word. It really is as simple as that.

That's my story alright. My old man turned down Chelsea and a top-div Fulham side to support us. There's a lot of first and second generation R's over here.

As said, we are by big Irish areas and many QPR supporters even in London are 2nd/3rd generation Irish like myself

Maybe the Guinness sponsor and players like don givens helped to attract Irish supporters who've never lived in England too
