Iremember a bloke that could stir up a good crowd. Really get tham going, chanting singing, he was magic. Sadly, he burned out after a few years and went a bit do-lally. His name was Hitler.

But, on a less serious note, got to give it to Ollie, he seems to be working hard and I was impressed by his interview on the BBC apres the match, giving credit to the players for putting in a full shift. Hope that this keeps up. At least we are above Charlton, the Leeds of the south. <applause><applause>

Not just that Brisbane, its also the little things - before KO he went out of his way to go and speak to a lifelong fan that has terminal cancer (probably his last game) - absolutely made his day <applause>

A performance to be proud of after the utter ****e we have had to put up with so far this season.

Holloway is taking them away to Portugal for a mid season - pre season because he considers the squad to be so unfit....
and the way the players dropped to the ground after the match you could see how much effort that had put in and how correct Holloway in is assumptions.

A proper Millwall display and with better finishing should have been 3-0....

View of yesterday's game from Block 17:

The good news is that the old Millwall is back. No vermin, no ginger, no empty words. Good honest hard work and commitment - top to bottom. Great atmosphere and some good play.

First half swung back and forth over the first half hour. Big hold up while Luke Hyam was injured - Jay Tabb, who didn't look fit, replaced him. (Tabb was later subbed) Trotter, who had a good game, had a shot that was not far off target. Fredericks was looking good on the right - pacey and linking well with Keogh. Then came the goal - it probably was a cross - but Gerken completely mis-read it and it's 1-0 to the Lions. Then the game swings again and after ****tu tackled back to stop one of theirs in a one on one on Fordey, Forde goes off with a pull - deep beath of concern - Bywater.

Lions fitness is now showing badly - as in lack of. It's been high tempo and despite the 2 injury breaks many of the Lions look knackered and the passes are going astray -and there's 6 minutes injury time. But they soak up the pressure. Malone is booked. Bywater survives and we all welcome the break.

Second half is give and take but Ipswich can't break through. The crowd are really up for this and the chanting is loud and penetrating. ****tu was immense at the back and he and Lowry were letting nothing through. They simply broke up any attacks down the middle. When ****tu miscued a header he tackled back and danced with the ball through 3 or 4 of theirs before placing it on a plate to an outfield player. I didn't know he could do that - but he said 'that's what we do' - so fair enough! But then there's a header by Tommy Smith that is headed off the line by Keogh - or was it Martin? Doesn't matter -because it didn't go in.

Then the subs come on - Josh Wright for Bailey (who's had a mixed game - doesn't look fit and then Jimmy for Trotts who's done ok) Then Martin misses a sitter - balloons it over the top from 5 yards out. Then Morro misses one when it would have been easier to score. There's one more big attack by their lot - but Bywater is equal to it and you sense it's going to be the only goal. And it was and we're all singing and happy and Ollie's hugging everyone - including the groundsmen pronging the pitch with their rakes and forks.

In summary - it's a long, long way to go. Ollie has a huge job on his hands. Make no mistake we were relegation fodder.

Players did well for first 30 minutes of both halves but then passing and pace went away. 3 of them collapsed with cramp around the 85th minute (could have been a crafty lie down).

Some players back to where they should be - for me apart from ****tu (MoM) and Lowry, Malone and Fredericks put in decent shifts, Trotts is showing more of his old self, Jimmy was busy and Moro and Keogh put in a lot. The front line didn't quite come off - but you can see there is potential and some potential. McDonald kept on getting pushed over and Martin was busy but to no great effect. Bailey needs to get fit. Wright hit one intended to be goal bound which went and hit the corner flag. Don't think he's got what we need.

Ref was ok - he broadly got it right - we got some throw ins that were theirs and vice versa. When he didn't give them a corner late on on the advice of the lino, you knew we'd hang on.

Best bit - no trains to South Bermondsey so on the Jubilee Line laughing at those so happy Hammers fans.

    Perfect day!
