Quite clearly an intentional handball, and DJ Campbell's initial reaction (and Marshall's) spoke volumes. Retrospective punishment perhaps when the FA sees the video? He should get a ban, that sort of thing should be stamped on, however inept the officials.
Dont talk bollocks man! Whats he supposed to do? Can you tell me of any other player that has gone to the ref and said "Actually ref it appears that I have committed an offence before the ball hit the back of the net!" The game is governed by the officials and teh FA can not interfere with the ref's decision because it is final! You realy need to a grow a pair. You won in the end so **** up with your whining!
Fair enough mate! Congrats at your win! I hope that we will part company with our totally **** and clueless manager before we are realy ****ed! Good luck with the rest etc.....
Johnny! I saw some good stuff from your lot today first half. I think he should be given a few more games and told he's on borrowed time. The most worrying thing for you lot is you look like Loans Are Us F.C. we tried that root and failed because many loanees don't really care about the club and drop their shoulders too soon in a game.
Thought you were a bit unlucky today but it was obvious that you are not used to winning, we were way down from our best but scraped through. Chops has become a liability, Scotland looked a bit weighty but Campbell could get you going, good luck for the rest of the season your not a bottom half team. IMO
Fair play to mm he totally redeemed himself 2nd half. We still weren't brilliant by any means but he introduced the players and tactics to get a job done. First half we were shocking, standing off, letting Ipswich play and barely able to string 2 passes together. Gunnar should not be played in the 'hole' off the striker again. As an experiment it failed totally. Conway was the real plus point and showed he can be a major part of a valuable plan b for us this season. Overall I was over the moon to escape with the win. No way that ipsŵich squad should be bottom 2, Jewell has had his chance they should give someone else a chance IMO.
Congrats on yesterday chaps. I wet from one pub to another, you were at 1-1 with 5 to play I think, and then someone said you had won. Nicely done.
Jonny, actually yes I do know a player who went to the Ref and tell him he had got it wrong. Uventus were playing a game and the Referee awarded John Charles a penalty because he thought the guy had fouled him. JC went to the Ref and told him the guy had made a perfectly fair tackle. The Ref said he was sorry but he couldn't change the decision so JC took the penalty himslef and deliberately missed. There are gentlemen about - - or at least there used to be. They were playing against Turin thier town rivlas and to this day both Turin teams treat the man as a God!!!
That's not a very gentlemanly response is it? I think (perhaps intentionally) you've missed the point. You are quite right, even I do not expect honesty from players these days, and would not expect the player to own up. However much we would all like players to be honest, and not cheat, those days are gone. But as the referee has clearly missed the incident there must be some possibility of dealing with the offence. If an elbow incident is missed, players are punished later - why not with this? The referee's decision is final if he has seen the offence - if he has not, then other discipinary action comes in to play. If the ref had spotted it at least a yellow card would have been given surely?
Iggy the first thing that as youngsters we are all taught is that you play to the whistle and the referees decision is final. It would create a terrible precedent and open the floodgates if players went up to referees and persuaded them to change their decisions! I get the point you're making about sportsmanship etc but unfortunately that era has passed long ago and I suggest that you are a littke naive to believe otherwise!
there is no sportsmanship in football unfortunately. its easy to be sporting in individual sports like tennis and snooker when you are accountable only to yourself, but if the player admitted he handled it he would get hammered by his manager. i certainly wont blame the referee, if he didnt see it and the player pretends he didnt handle it then what can he do other let the goal stand? i seem to be one of few fans who think the refs are doing as best a job they can under the present conditions. but we won the game and thats all that counts.......
To be fair to Campbell he was as surprised as anyone that the "goal" was allowed to stand! Everyone froze for a few seconds as if they were all expecting the goal to be ruled out. I don't remember the Cardiff players making a big deal out of it. Yes it was a shocking decision by the referee and what the linesman was doing when he had a clear view of it, god only knows! The summary of the game is that we played you off the park for the first 60 mins and then once you drew level we lost all confidence and it became a matter of time before you grabbed the winner. No sour graoes from me about the result as we got what we deserved in the end. We shot ourselves in the foot and you took advantage. Best of luck for the rest of the season.
clearly handball and questions need 2b asked as 2 why it wasnt ruled out\like what the fk was the officials doing at the time apart from not watching the game. the game played out as expected tbh we knew we would have some pressure from a team playing at home and desperate for a win>>>a few new faces added before hand 2 give a boost 2 the home team but cardiff carried on with the job at hand and came into the game the longer it went on and ran out winners 2take all the points>>>>confidence is a major player this year for us and there`s no reason why we shouldnt feel confident that this squad is one of the best in this division and i aint looking through blinkers these days.........its real this time and we may well be on the march with malky`s army.......fingers and toes crossed ofcourse because we need the luck 2 init
Masked, H is bout to update the table soonish As for yourself a lowly 16th in the First Division with 9 points. Those 3 points actually moved you off the bottom of the table (if you discount Siam) despite a high of fourth earlier on in the season due to a well predicted goaless draw with Brighton a lack of predictions has seen you slip down the table and the two Heider goals you predicted are the first scorer points you've picked up all season. Anyone else want an update?
Happy to wait for the table as long as you picked up my treble prediction before I went away having got a CS and correct scorer for the Ipswich game. I hope to have escaped the re-election zone in Div. 2.
