Let's not forget also that they left what was a pretty awful squad. Waghorn that season was our shining light, in what was an awful season. We lost our best players and then let an inexperienced manager spend the most money the club had spent in years on lower league players. Pretty much sums up why we are where we are really. I wasn't a fan of Mick in terms of his style of football but he is a good man manager and if ME would have given him similar backing as he gave to Hurst he could've got us promoted. The scariest thing is the longer ME's reign goes on it makes me question if Keane was actually a terrible football manager or if he was just the first victim of working under ME. The worst of it is he failed spending millions whilst at the time Lambert was up the road taking Norwich to mid table in the Premier League on a shoestring budget. Feels like a sliding doors moment.
