I noticed there hasn't been a match-day thread on this yet, so with Westy gone, I thought I'd get one fired up as we're only a few days away now. I'm hopeful that this will be a good game, and will provide a clearer indication of where we are as a club and how we stack up against what should be a promotion rival. I've got tickets for upper Cobbold (unfortunately lower North was entirely sold out), so should be a great atmosphere in the ground. We're expecting over 20,000 for the match, which is hopefully a good sign that crowd levels aren't going to plummet after relegation. Our narrow win away at Burton last weekend was certainly not a result to be sniffed at - and with positive performances by the likes of Wolfenden, Downes, Rowe, and Norwood, we hopefully have enough in this injury-hit team to get a result on Saturday afternoon. Things haven't been going so smoothly over at Sunderland this summer after their last-gasp play off final defeat back in May. Lee Cattermole was one of the bigger names to depart this summer, and he's clearly a big departure, as he's been the engine of that team for the past several years or so. Sunderland struggled in their opening day draw at home to Oxford, who are looking like early dark horses for the top six, so they'll be eager to get points on the board. What are we thinking score-wise? Sunderland were something of draw specialists last season and I can easily see us opt for a rather cautious 1-1 draw to keep a bit of momentum going in what was depicted as a tough opening month to the campaign. So, I'll go for 1-1 and Norwood to get off the mark for the season. As for the starting line-up, maybe something like: Holy Donacien / Chambers / Wolfenden / Kenlock Downes / Huws Rowe / Judge / Garbutt Norwood
Please no Donacien...thought he looked as dodgy as Warkys views on Brexit! We must have a better youngster, can't get any worse!
Donacien needs a bit of time to settle in and then he’ll be our best option there by a mile. 2-1 Town. The two sides will be well matched but the home atmosphere will just give Town the edge. Sunderland are strong contenders for the autos but I think we will be into September before they get going.
To be honest, not got a clue as know nothing about Sunderland these days, think Quinn and Phillips may cause us problems tho!
Welcome to League One. Good to see that you still get some activity on here. I've just posted our match thread Good luck for the season
Holy is a worry and we were lucky to get away unpunished after his horrendous errors last Saturday, he has to improve or there's trouble in store. Chambers will be available and I expect him to line up in central defence, I don't know if anyone else is now fit and able to play but Huws looked quality when he came on at Burton so I would like to see him start.
Putting Chambo back in would be a huge step backward. I hope we keep it much the same and as you mention, Huws would be a huge bonus. Most important thing now, more important than three points, is for Norwood and Jackson to both get off the mark in the next couple of matches to get some goalscoring momentum and avoid them getting the complexes that plagued us last season.
I'll have to see it again but that looked like a ridiculous yellow card for Jackson, accused of diving in the box.
Good afternoon all! How nice to hear our boys winning, when did we last win two in a row? Early days, but I am liking what I hear. COYBs
He's certainly determined to show us how bad the roof is In all honesty, iFollow still can't get it right. I pay about 140 bucks for this service and they make amateur technical mistakes that shouldn't happen in 2019.
