Am I seriously the only one that thought we were atrocious and didn't deserve anything from the game?

Both our goals were very fortunate and they could've been 4-0 after 20 mins with little complaints. Defence looked shakey all game, Lees played poorly but I thought Peltier also played bad and Pearce lost out on every header to Daryl Murphy. Austin definitely needs to play the holding role instead of Green as both were more ineffective than they have been and this diamond formation doesn't work when the opposition has attacking full backs like Ipswich. There was far too much space for them to play around the midfield, also why are we hoofing it again?

I could seriously go on for a while with complaints about that game, I'm very happy we got the 3 points but I really hope mcd tries to address that performance. The weirdest thing is I get on here right pissed off about the performance and people are saying we played alright... did I seriously misinterpret the game that much or are people just trying to see the positive despite everything pointing the other way.

If I was an Ipswich fan I would be pretty pissed off about that result. They deserved to win imo and we were lucky.

I thought it was a pretty even game to be honest, maybe a draw would've been a fair result, but only because Ipswich had the better of the first half hour, and Leeds bossed the rest of the game, albeit soaking up pressure in the last 10 minutes, when the defence was outstanding.
Stand out performances from Luke Murphy and McCormack.
For me, Green needs to go, as does Peltier - the sooner Byram comes back and plays RM the better, with Wootton at RB.
So all in all a gritty performance, not a slick passing, fluid movement type display, but a display that plays to the strengths of the squad we currently have.
And I disagree about the hoofball comment, we simply didn't resort to it at all. If you're referring to long passes down the flanks for Varney and Hunt to run on to yes, there were a few of those, but that's not constantly kicking it upfield to a big target man.

The more BM manages us, the luckier we seem to get, Josh

The reality is we are not a top quality side, but we are all the same averaging 2 points a game, and unbeaten. I fear a side with quality (and presumably QPR are one, I don't know) will make us look idiots but, given this is the mid table squad Warnock left us, plus a small number of additions, BM is doing well with them.

We need at least a couple more I think, if its the right couple of players we might start to look a different side. Personally I also hope the new CB is good enough to replace Lees, as I think he needs a spell on the bench to get himself together again.

Well yes, McGoldrick did send him the wrong way, with Lees ending up on his arse, so a bit clumsy and cumbersome but that's really what I've come to expect from Lees lately.
Apart from that though he had a good solid game.

Thanks, pity that recently he always seems to feature in the memorable bits in defence, as I used to rate him. I think perhaps BM is right (again) and we were relying too much on the two CB's, for me a spell on the bench might reinvigorate him, as well as clumsy he seems to get brushed aside surprisingly easily. Hope Wootton is up to it.

Just had another look at their goal, it was instructive. What happened -

Their goalie kicked long, so Pearce went forwards to head it but lost out to Ipswich player, leave Pelts, Lees and Warnock defending against Mcgoldrick and their number 7.

Lees was about where he should be to start with, but Warnock was a bit forward and a bit wide, and just seemed to watch like a spectator as the ball was headed towards McGoldrick in the centre. This got worse, as he just turned casually, and only woke up to the danger after their number 7 had started running into a huge gap between him and Lees.

Pelts had done the right thing and closed right in next to Lees right hand so McGoldrick was almost force to turn right, towards the gap between Lees and Warnock, which was now the width of the Humber. Lees did not seem to anticipate, was caught having to turn quickly and then lost his footing. Warnock was still nowhere near - admittedly he had the number 7 to mark, but he duid it get to him either until after the shot had gone in. Green and Austin wwere haring back, Austin got to cover a player on their left, Green gor close but never was going to stop the shot.

So, as well as the obvious sacrificial lamb of Lees, for being slow and ponderous, not anticipating and losing his footing, and not positioning himself so that between him and pelts (who had no one else to mark at that tine) they had the striker covered, I think when Pearce went forward Warnock should have been going both back and a bit more central in case he lost out, as was the case.

But no doubt, BM will be studying this a lot more expertly than me.

We won. We are Leeds united we don't give a ****. How many times have we battered teams and lost? That's football.

I agree it is very much Warnock's side and you can't expect McD to do too much with them but I am comparing the performance to performances under McD and not warnock

And LIE, I'm referring to when we punted the ball up the pitch (centrally) with no effect. My biggest complaint about it was the formation doesn't suit the team nor league. We don't have the players to play the formation and its too easily exploited.

The only times we punted the ball centrally up the pitch was when we cleared our lines when under pressure, even Barcelona do that on occasion. I never saw us, with control of the ball at the back, deliberately hoof it centrally, which would've split Hunt and Varney. Even Kenny, when clearing, aimed it diagonally towards Hunt and Varney.
Sorry Josh, sounds like we were watching a different game <laugh><whistle>

There was many times that we had control of the ball at the back, we either play the ball long or play it back to kenny to hoof it long. If you didn't see that then your in denial, sorry mate but wasn't nice to watch.

I expect those performances every now and then in truth and especially away from home, as long as we get the points it doesn't matter. All I'm saying is we won't continue to get points playing like that and with that formation either, we have never been so desperate for wide options imo

Have to agree with you, but with one exception. I felt that Peltier should have moved in behind Lees to cover for eventualities like Lees slipping or being dribbled past. What he thought he was covering, I don't know. There was no-one on his wing and imminent danger in front of Lees that he should have helped out with. At least he had a good view!

Can't blame Lees for slipping, it happens!

Hindsight, slow-mo video replays, and a standard for perfection are great, huh? <applause>

Other teams are there to try and beat us, and sometimes our players will not get the ball, will be slightly out of position, and will fail to prevent the opposition scoring. Human failings occur.

This team has heart and desire, and the ability to come back from the dead. They may not be the most perfect of players, but they are doing okay at the moment, improving as a team, working hard for each other, and doing us proud.

    Keep it going lads <ok>

I genuinely think with the guile and determination shown so far we really are just a couple of good wide players away from a real promotion push. We have options and variety on the bench and McDermott has it in him to change the system around to provide us with flexibility and options.

It's a good time to be Leeds!

In the last few seasons rarely <ok>

As for this game I never managed to catch any of it, I was stuck on the M1 and M25 for longer than expected relying on LUFC Twitter updates

From what I have seen this season we could have been joint top on 10 points and just as easily have been down in 17th on 3 points.

But we are where we are, and compared to last year we can feel good about our prospects. We are a better TEAM than we were at the same stage last year. Have a little faith, I know it's not easy to believe, but at long last we are starting to get there.

It's been a great start Glory, but I think a lot of us are waiting for the slap in face, which happens to this great club on loads of occasions. But I'm enjoying it at the moment...:emoticon-0148-yes:

I am waiting for it too. If it happens next Saturday w e. won't be surprised, but I feel we will then go on a six week winning streak.

If it makes you feel any better, I fear the trip to Leeds next week. Its the most formidable fixture on our list so far and if I was offered a point now I'd take it, no question. We're far from the finished article, more a workmanlike side right now - grinding out results. Our game will be tight I would imagine.

Anyway, if you keep up your current average you will finish on 92 points and almost definitely win the league!
