Moral of the story: when you're a PL manager, be very careful what you say in interviews. It can and will be used against you.
Yes, and it's one game and one comment... Far too early to tell if this is a one off or the start of a trend. I wish he hadn't said it, but it's far from end of the world or indication of anything bad.
I said before he even joined that he could do with media training. His comments about joining Liverpool before he's actually joined showed he can be a bit loose when talking
I think all of thr above misses one key point. Quansah is in fact a dedicated, mature and driven young man. He wasn't sulking. Thats put onto him by others. He was disappointed in himself. This boy does all the analysis of this own performances and really work on every aspect of his game. He will know exactly what slot was saying and would say it himself. Do not for one tiny second this this boy won't come back firing. He is that good mentally. Other little humpy ****heads like say oh I dunno half the senior squad at man utd or chelsea would be running to the press or their agent crying. Slot is more rafa than houllier. (Rafa was the scientist and perfectionist, houillier the school master) He is nothing at all like klopp. Slot might be affable enough in general but it's very clear you have a rafa on your hands with this guy. He could turn into a ten haag next if he starts mouthing off about players and hanging them out to dry.L but let's hope not. We need discipline in the club to compete. Nor harm.in Slot being dreading and his way or no way but equally then don't be shocked half thr team vanish quickly if they don't fancy it. We have to remember that everything looked tired for the last couple of seasons, standards were down a bit. A lot of people.convincing themsevles they were not at the club who have now gone. The players left will either love it or not fancy it. A salah for example should love it to bits. We will see with trent. He will either knuckle down and sign or be gone. If we want more medals and trophies we really need everyone to buy in and be hungry. In the end Hodgson didn't believe and thought it was fine to be 8th the old men carragher and Gerrard really didn't bele9ve in him and it showed. Same for Rodgers. Half thr team didn't rate him really. The other half were his buys and not good enough. Klopp swept the place clean. It took time to get his standard in place and they are imo not quite as high when he left as when he came in. Slot has come in and is entitled to set his standards high and sweep the chaff away. The club needs it to get back to competing with city really.
I think the Dutch are just incredibly blunt as well. Subtlety just isn't their thing. I remember in the mid-noughties when they (Dutch Rail) took over our company - they are very, very fair people and incredibly collaborative and supportive, but there's no bread in their **** sandwiches, When they give you negative feedback you only get the ****, and no trimmings and garnish. That just seems to be the way that they are. I'd hate to get on the wrong side of Virgil - I think he'll be a beast of a manager. Mind you, I said that about Souness when he was a player.
looks like Quansah took it as well as you can. No real issues Slot: Quansah reacted to HT sub as you would expect Liverpool manager Arne Slot on Jarell Quansah's reaction to be taken off at half-time against Ipswich: "In a way you would expect a player to react. I spoke to him immediately after the game, and the day after, and he asked if he could train on Sunday. "Normally, he should have done recovery, but he wanted to train. Unfortunately, on Tuesday, he picked up a bit of an injury but let's see if he can train today. "I don't think there was that much into it. Maybe it was a language problem because I said he did not lose every duel, but he lost one or two important ones and one was just before half-time. "I said to the team that day after that it was not about Jarell, the team didn't do well.
Someone's told him he ****ed the interview and it's be interesting to see if he makes a point of it to go applaud the crowd. I've no issue with him learning once he does show it. BTW convenient injury that. Telegraphed the kid is on the bench now for the foreseeable.
He actually said that he was told (didn't say by who but looked to his side so possibly one of his staff) that his Quansah comment was misunderstood or mistranslated maybe because he hadn't said the right words. I didn't like his first interview very much and could imagine he was told to talk more about Liverpool than Feyenoord but since then he's said all the right things imo. He will learn as he goes. He's just clarifying what he actually meant. Bisc to confirm that I got it all right this time.
So yeah, he was told and went out of his way to address it. So I'll be watching at the end, if sky allow us to see, for him applauding the anfield crowd and the same for the next away gsme. As I said, nothing wrong with learning something about your new surroundings and making a change. This is the mistake imo ten Hag has made. He's taken zero account of what it means to that lots fans and is still parking a bus and buying ajax players.
Yes he was told and addressed it. Nothing wrong with that. Him and Klopp are very different personalities, nobody expected otherwise. Klopp made a connection with club, fans and the city straight away, it came naturally to him. Although Slot doesn't appear cold or stand offish, to use a scouse phrase, he hasn't as yet imo made the same connection. You shouldn't forget or need reminding to acknowledge the fans. The relationship is a two way thing. The match going support will feel it directly. Get them on side and he's off to a good start. Winning would help as well
I didn't say you did say there was something wrong with it. If you read my first comment after the one in question, you'll see that, while others questioned you, I'm agreeing with you.
