It's wages that are the issue not a transfer fee.. with transfer fees you are able to sell the player on later.
Paying Bullard's wages would cost us 45k x 52 = 2,340,000 every year! I think the total wage bill including the management staff is around ã10m a year - so like Hull he would make up 25% of our entire wage bill.
And since Jimmy is 32 we wouldn't be able to command any kind of fee in two or three years' time.
We refused to match Charlie Austin's wage demands which led him to join Burnley instead of Town - Norris and McAuley are bound for the Premier League because again we wouldn't meet their wage demands. Unless you want to run the club into the ground you have to manage
