Certain members of the forum would be marching over to CH and ripping up their season tickets in a fit of drunken rage ;)

No, he has sort of admitted to feeling "better" about on-field performances and CH! For those who missed it however, here is his latest post, added yesterday evening to Superman's "I'm losing faith ....." thread:

I don't know about anyone else, but I am reminded of a politician shifting uneasily during a Paxman interview on Newsnight. "So you are saying that this season we are much better than last season, but none of this can be put down to the manager "who hasn't made the same developments and modernised the playing style"?

However, since peace has apparently broken out, we can maybe start by focussing on the areas of agreement. Firstly, and I have agreed with carrabuh before about this, Pilkington is proving more comfortable with the narrower style of play than Snoddy is at the moment. I think we are overloading Snoddy and need a better balance between the two. Secondly, I agree that players attacking the box, whether from wide or centrally, are shooting too often from distance when they could have either got closer, or checked to make a pass and try to work an opening for someone else. I see this is as primarily a matter of confidence. What is needed is greater composure, which needs confidence. A win last Saturday would have done everyone the world of good in that respect. I have no problem with crossing from the edge of the box; far better that than from the touchline. But I agree that such crosses are most effective the nearer they are made to the by-line, not the corner of the box.

I don't agree that on Saturday the only real chances created were headers. The best chance was indeed a header (Martin), but Howson, Fer and Hooper all had good non-heading chances. No sitters, but that was more down to Cardiff than our play. Nor do I agree that CH has not set up the team to help our strikers. Having Fer and Howson, with Tettey behind, has made a big difference, as has having Pilkington and Snoddy playing narrower; what is chiefly missing (in addition to confidence and composure) is Snoddy being too uptight and seeming to feel it's all on his shoulders. He needs to relax a bit and remind himself there are others there to share the creative burden with him. <ok>

For once, and I'm not going to make a habit of it I also agree with a lot of that !
I'd also take it further by at home at least, starting with two strikers do the wingers have a target to hit when they hit the byline and pull it across. It's about time the center halves earned there corn a bit more without having Tettey to mother them.
I still feel very angry about the fact CH wouldn't sacrifice Tettey for a 2nd striker against Cardiff. But it's gone now and we move on, I don't expect to much change v city this week but I'm expecting changes in formation & personal against the hammers.
I would like to see young Murphy get some game time soon as well.

It was a semi-serious suggestion. I suspect folks would be a bit more tolerant to others views if they could at least put a face to the name (even if they couldn't remember it afterwards - hic!)

Yes, thats exactly what I'm saying.

The reason being that although we are much better, we are only much better in the easier aspects of football, namely physicality.

If we were much better in the more difficult aspects such as creativity, touch and technique, patience, (the elements I respect) etc etc then I don't think anyone would have reason to complain. The fact is we don't play with these intelligent aspects of football, much like the manager who remains 1 dimensional and old fashioned, he's just doing it what he knows with better players.

So although you may be reminded of an uncomfortable politician, I remain very comfortable with my opinion of the manager until I see enough to warrant a change of heart.
