It's might not be cold to you guys, but to us, it's ferkin' freezing. It's 19c outside and could get down to 15c or so.
You know, it's 14°C. down here atm, going up to a balmy 16°C. in 2 or 3 hours, and we're close to the middle of Summer!
King's Stand. Battaash. I'm not sure he beat much, but he had it won a long way out. A very good horse.
Nice to see HM get a win with Tactical in The Windsor Castle. Having bred the animal as well, the lady must have been filled with satisfaction.
The wonderful Stradivarius, I hope he can do it again next year and emulate the mighty Yeats. Both fantastic horses.
Two very promising square gaiters Feeling Cash and Bourbon Arrow, faced off in the G2 Xavier De Saint Palais Price yesterday. They went off hard testing each other's motors. The result, a new track record to the one who held his nerve. https://www.letrot.com/fr/replay-courses/2020-06-19/7500/4
Now here's a racehorse for you. Gamine winning the 8F, G1 Acorn by 18 3/4 lengths and slashing a full second off the race record. Her sectionals were amazing. 22.48 for the first quarter, 45.28 the second, 1.09.33 at the 6 furlong mark and stopping the clock at 1.32.55 for the mile. The 3 year old filly is unbeaten in 3 races.
In the world of trotting, a five year is considered to be a bit on the immature side when it comes to competing at the top level in open company, G1 racing. But every now and then something brilliant comes along. Face Time Bourbon is one such animal. He exploded onto the big stage earlier this year when he won the premier event on the globe, the G1 Grand Prix d'Amerique. Yesterday at Vincennes, Face Time Bourbon returned to the track to contest the G1 Prix Rene Balliere and made it a one act of the affair. He began well from the 7 gate them worked across to lead, then set a hectic pace before being eased near the line. He smashed the track record. A brilliant animal with a huge future.
The G1 Prix Albert Viel brought together a top flight field of 3 year old colts, headed by the wonderful Helgafell who went straight to the front for an easy win. Their was also an eye catching run from Hokkaido Jiel who was most unlucky. He had a lovely trail when third in the second line, but was shuffled back to second last when the field swept 4 and 5 deep. He flashed home late. He's No6 in the striped yellow and blue.
Chrono Genisis, the grand daughter of Nashwan, today won the G1 Takarazuka Kinen over the 11 furlong trip at Hanshin in Japan. It was her second G1 win in succession. The filly has really blossomed in the last 12 months. The Takarazuka Kinen is one of two amazing races in Japan. The majority of the field is made up from a public vote, and the remainder are chosen according to prize money won. The film coverage is awful. Who ever sat in the director's chair needs to be gelded. Very annoying. No 16. Black, red sashes, yellow sleeves with black stripe, pink cap.
At the moment, the 20 points Uncle Chuck picked up for winning the G3 Los Alamitos Derby has put him about equal 20th when it comes to qualification for the Kentucky Derby.
