Over the last couple of weeks in North America, European trotting standards stood tall. First up the Italian Zacon Gio made off with the $1,000,000 Yonker's International Trot earlier this month, then the mighty Bold Eagle, the winner of 21 G1 races made his mark in Canada's Breeder's Crown. Zacon Gio. No 5. Bold Eagle. No1.
A very nice win by Warning in today's G1 Victoria Derby. (The race starts 3 minutes into the clip.) Red, purple sash and cap, white sleeves.
Have a look at this for a win. Kolding winning the 1500m, $7,500,000 Golden Eagle. He runs into all sorts of trouble in the straight. (The early vision is warped, but it sorts itself out.) No 3. White, blue banded sleeves and blue cap. On the fence mid-field.
$6,000,000 Breeders' Cup Classic. Vino Rosso. No10. Blue and orange. For some reason the film takes about 30 seconds to load.
Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint. Belvoir Bay sizzled over the 5 furlongs in an amazing 54:83. No12. Leads all the way from the outside gate.
The Melbourne Cup today went to Vow And Declare which was ridden by Craig Williams. The win was a long time coming for Williams as he's had 14 attempts at the race. He's won us about everything else. Frankie Dettori on the second horse was rubbed out for crowding. The horse was relegated from second to fourth. A cracking race. A great ride bringing the winner from alley 20. No23, Orange, white sleeves, orange and white quartered cap.
That was a superb, intelligent ride from the jockey on the winner - broke smartly, got across to the rail and saved a bit for the finish. Needed the horse underneath him to do it of course but perfectly executed
Thanks for those Cyc. I missed all the Saturday races. That sprinter was amazing; won hands and heels
