Wow, what a race. The 3000m G1 Criterium des 5 Ans, the premier race in France for 5 year old horses. The winner Ugenito du Noyer at behind the leader for most of the race. No 6, yellow and green checks. Yellow cap. https://www.letrot.com/fr/replay-courses/2019-08-31/7500/3
Out in the middle of nowhere, and nearly 1600ks from Brisbane, sits the home of bush racing, Birdsville. Today was cup day. Next stop, the Prix de l' de Arc Triomphe. https://www.racingqueensland.com.au...lays/player/thoroughbred/bird/20190907/race/6
In winning the Feehan today, Homesman earned a run in the Cox Plate on October 26. At 10-1 he seems a fair EW bet.
The good horses were on show at Vincennes last Saturday in the 380,000 Euro Trotting Masters. Cleangame (8) looked to have the race all parceled up half way down the running, but jumped out of his gate and had to be disqualified. The race was then left to the US bred Propulsion (11) who saw off the fast finishing Bahia Quesnot and the old warrior Bold Eagle. (12) https://www.letrot.com/fr/replay-courses/2019-09-07/7500/7
Ten Sovereigns looks to be heading down under for the Everest. Can't see him troubling the Aussie speed-balls, what do you reckon Cyc? https://www.sportinglife.com/racing/news/sovereigns-heading-to-australia/171339
It's hard to say whether Ten Sovereigns can be competitive Oddy. But I think it's only a matter of time before a Northern sprint raider wins here. I think over the last 10 years or so, UK sprinting has come a long way. Battash I think is as good as anything around at the moment. I think he'd hold his own anywhere. He'd certainly have drawn big crowds here if they'd taken a crack at the big boys. And there's a **** load of money up for grabs too. Anyways, good luck to Coolmore for taking the punt. And a AU$14,000,000 purse ain't to sneezed at.
The GI Pennsylvania Derby proved to be a real fairy affair for the connections of Math Wizard. The horse had twice been bought in claiming races for as little as $16,000 before being claimed for $25.000 by his present owners. In winning the Derby he took his earnings to over $850,000. Not too shabby. No1, inside gate. Black colours.
The G3 Prix du Prince d'Orange went to the Aurelien Lamaitre ridden, Freddy Head trained filly Soudania. The Dettori mount and favourite Dubai Warrior led them up but went out light a light when asked for the big effort. A poor run by the big colt. No8. Blue, white stripes, white cap.
The grand old stager Vertigo of Chenu fronted the starter for the 139th time last Sunday in the G3 Prix Geoges Dreux, and did his connections proud. Starting at 25-1, he was far too good for the Vincennes "Streamroller" Clegs Of The Fields, the even money favourite who was second throughout. https://www.letrot.com/fr/replay-courses/2019-09-22/7500/4
At Gulfstream Park in the USA, there's bet called the Rainbow 6, where obviously all 6 need to win to collect. The catch with this offering though, is that to collect the big payout, there must be a single winning ticket. If there's more than the single winner, there's a small payout with the bulk rolling over to the next meeting. I suppose the entry must be 20c, because a couple of weeks ago, somebody cracked it big time. For the 20c outlay, the lucky punter picked up US$2,211,783.62. Not too shabby at all.
If there's anyone who knows how to read pace, it's that man Frankie. In winning the Prix de Royallieu aboard Anapurna, Dettori moved on to 17 G1 wins for the season. Blue, white spots and cap. Leads throughout.
