How unlucky is Happy Clapper? He's finished second to the mare on four occasions. Still, AU$6,500,000 isn't to be sneezed at.

We shall soon have to change the system of 'dates' in Australian racing to 'BWx' and 'AWx'.

We often take jockeys for granted. We **** can them for poor rides etc, but every now and then the reality of the dangers they face is brutally exposed.

A Wild World of Sports report.

Aussie jockey Tye Angland was confirmed a quadriplegic on Tuesday as a result of injuries he suffered in a fall in Hong Kong.

Angland damaged his spinal cord in the incident at Sha Tin on November 25 when his mount stumbled coming out of the barriers.

Today the 3 year old filly Sunlight jumped straight to the front and defied them all to run her down in Australia's premier sprint, the 1200m G1 Newmarket Handicap at Flemington. Osborne Bulls put in a monster to run second. He's in the Godolphin all blue and is at the rear of the field.

In Sydney the 1600m G1 Guineas went to the odds on favourite The Autumn Sun who put in a soul stirring effort to take out the race. He made a heap of ground in the last furlong. No1, red and dark green stripes, green cap, red stripe. Always well back and deepest on the bend.

Another good sprinter took out the G1 1300m WFA Canterbury Stakes. Trapeze Artist was simply too good, and led them a merry dance.

And in the G2, 1000m Challenge Stakes, the 8 year old war horse Ball Of Muscle put it all on the line to just hold off the long odds on favourite Redzel. The honest old bloke who's won and been placed in 27 of 38 starts, took his prize money to more than AU$1.6 million with the victory. In running second, Redzel took his earnings to almost AU$15.5million.

AU$7,000,000 WFA All Star Mile run today at Flemington. The 3yo filly Mystic Journey puts up a very nice effort to take out the race. She's 2 from the outside, in red and white.

Aubrion du Gers, one of the finest trotter in the world made short work of the The Prix de Cauvicourt yesterday at Caen. After being beaten out from the inside gate, Aubrion du Gers quickly moved out and raced to the lead. At that point it was all over. No1, blue red stripe and cap.

Today at Rosehill Winx strode onto the track for what would probably be her second last race. She was looking to make it 32 wins in a row.

Winx extended her record-breaking win streak to 32 with victory in the George Ryder Stakes at Rosehill Gardens.
The mare, trained by Chris Waller, won the race for the fourth straight year in what may be her penultimate outing.
Winx justified odds of 1-17 as she claimed a 24th top-level Group One win under jockey Hugh Bowman. "When the crowd erupted I could feel the energy increase in her body, it was just so exciting," he said. "I'm so proud of her and proud to be part of it."
After victory. the seven-year-old horse was welcomed back by the crowd chanting "Winxy, Winxy". It is expected Winx's extraordinary career will to come to an end after the Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Royal Randwick next month. Record-breaker in numbersWinx beat Black Caviar's Australian win record in August 2018 with her 26th consecutive victory.Earlier this month, she won a world record 23rd Group One race. That victory passed the record of the Willie Mullins-trained former Champion Hurdle winner Hurricane Fly who was retired in August 2015.Winx has won 36 times in 42 races. Her last defeat was in April 2015.

Today's 2400m G1 H. E. Tancred Stakes was won by Godolphin's Avilius, taking his earnings to better than AU$2.4 million. No 1, all blue from the 5 gate.

The lovely, New Zealand bred filly Verry Elleegant had a nice win in the 2000m G1 Vinery Stud Stakes. From the way she wandered about in the straight, she still has a lot to learn. The even money favourite is No 3, in the maroon and blue, well back on the fence.
