Just an update on the MACKEM BULLET. She is entered in the Juvenile fillies turf over a mile which is the penultimate race on 2/11/18 which is the first day of the Breeders cup meeting. Currently there are 11 entries with three more places to be filled for the maximum of fourteen runners [ interesting to note that she is also a early closer for the Irish 1000 guineas in May] The race does not look particularly strong - here is a link for the contenders if you are interested http://www.breederscup.com/contenders/130 The Churchill downs course is interesting. The turf track is on the inside of the dirt track and it is just 7 furlongs round. Tight would not begin to describe it so the draw will be significant,as will be a smart start and the ability to hold a good position. The track that whose configuration is closest Churchill would be Wolverhampton. So, can the Bullet win? Her only run on a sharp track was at Musselburgh and she was all over the place - however that was only her second race and -to be fair- her subsequent races were far more professional. The yard hold her in great esteem, Brian Ellison describing her as the best he has ever trained. The negatives have to be the travel for a 2yo filly, however eight of the eleven entered are from Europe, one from Canada and two from the USA.

My old Benbatl, didn't even know he was in Australia! Knew he was a damn good racehorse, think I mentioned it after the Juddmonte at York. Terrific ride by Pat Cosgrove, of all people. Win a few, lose a few, or more. Many thanks for clip, Cyc.

The champion Aubrion du Gers posts yet again another track record (2550m) in winning the Grand Prix du Sud-Ouest at Bordeaux. Aubrion du Gers (3) and the talented Carat Williams (6) came away to fight it out at the finish. The mare Ranch Kelly (1) was trapped along the fence and had to dragged back to last. She made a lightning run out wide at them, but ran out of steam in the straight. She looks to have ability though.
With to stages and the final of the Grand National du Trot still to be run, Ceyland Dairpet went into the Big National in Paris, with a run in the final already nailed on. He started a very short favourite and showed himself to be a real challenger to the points leader Cleangame, when the final rolls around. New track record. They went like scalded cats early. He started from well back, out wide. Ceyland Dairpet is No 12. Yellow, red sleeves and cap. Red star. https://translate.googleusercontent...700214&usg=ALkJrhiSWXFhzocCL_mXkQX9a-GAluVxng

The stable mates Valko Jenilat and Billie de Monfort again came to the fore. Billie (2) is in Blue and white with yellow cap. Valko (6) is white, red cap.
