Ceylan Dairpet quickly works his way to the front and proceeds to smash the Vire Normandie 2800m track record in winning the G3, 10th Stage of the Grand National Trot. He now moves to second on points behind the brilliant Cleangame. Number 10. Yellow and Red. https://translate.googleusercontent...00214&usg=ALkJrhhz7n8fQS1hT-jezkZCMbGJKfkCmw#
An interesting Frankel runner is about to go around in the G2 Stutt Stakes over the metric mile at the Valley. He's from an Australian G1 winning mare. He's a 12-1 chance. I wouldn't be surprised to see him run a nice race. Farook.
Nope. He probably need more than the mile, and a big, wide open track. The winner Leonardo da Hinchi looks decent.
Top stuff, Cyc! Remember one or two of the NH and Flat thoroughbred enthusiasts on the forum taking the piss out of "Monté" a while back, which I thought most unfair. You've got to be a damn fine horseman to do this, e.g. imagine the strain on the wrists, and the arm and back muscles during a race? I have never liked the thoroughbred racing jockey "crouch" some riders have adopted over the last year or so (note the rider of the horse that finished 3rd), I honestly much prefer the more upright stance for standard-bred Monté events. Much more control, surely?
The G1 Moir over 1000m is about to be run. Boy will they fly. Nature Strip is the fastest horse in the country, but can he hang on against this cracking field? I hope I can get a replay to post.
Wow, what a race! Harness racing, sadly, might be half-dead in Munich and the south of Germany, but great to see it is alive and well in other parts of the world. A great sport. The Aussie commentator was very good IMHO, had to bang my heed at times as I thought I might be at the Wagga Wagga track!
The 9 furlong, G1 $1,300,000, Awesome Again Stakes run at Santa Anita last Saturday. The winner gained an automatic start in the $6,000,000 Breeder's Cup Classic at Churchill Downs on November 3.
Looks the stayer in the 'Classic' field and now clear favourite at around 3/1. I really liked this performance.
The 10 furlong, $750,000 Jockey Club Gold Cup turned out to be a bit of a farce. The race caller couldn't get the winner's name right and stupid rides from Ortiz and Moore made for a real turn up for the books. They went like scolded cats. The winner gets a Classic start as well.
The 12 furlong Canadian International will be run on the 10th of October at Woodbine. It's possible that at least half of he field will European visitors, one of those might be Thundering Blue who won the Stockholm Cup International last week. He's the grey. Fran Berry in the plate.
The 4 year old filly Elladora Of Forgan made it back to back G1 wins when she took out the EU240,000 Price Of Elites at Vincennes. 1 through 4 came off scratch, 5 through 9 off 50m. She's No8 in purple and white. Settles 5th on the outside. https://translate.googleusercontent...700214&usg=ALkJrhhXTKhTm0x_DpUU7eyeFJS8bb0GEA
Wow, what a gutsy performance from the filly, and a super cool ride too. Thought the winner had to come from one of the pair that led by a long way for much of the race.
If there's a better trotter in Europe than the champion Aubrion Du Gers, it'll be hard to find. In taking out yesterday's GP of the Anjou-Maine Federation, Aubrion Du Gers took his winning streak to nine and in the process, smashed yet another course record. He's in the dark blue with red sash and cap. He comes from midfield to sit outside the leader. No17. As a major money earner, he had to give those who've earned less the EU400,000, a 25m start. https://translate.googleusercontent...700214&usg=ALkJrhiEdHxqRbjVtcRjA9dDyOvoBRodYQ
Not too sure, but it might be her last lead in race before the Cox Plate. She's about $.16 for the Turnbull tomorrow. Another scary day ahead Ron.
Very cool ride - always knew he was going to get there on the great mare. Spencer would've gone up the inside and got her boxed in
