Heat 1 of the G1 Eliploppet proved a real sensation. The mighty Bold Eagle showed up in a filthy mood and appeared to be thinking. "F**k this for a joke." Heat 2. Elitloppet Final.
Laurens shows some serious grit to take out the G1 Prix Saint-alary. Did it from the front, headed, then came again.
Another cracking ride, this time by Olivier Peslier aboard Recoletos in the G1 Prix d'Ispahan. Settles last, then up the inside before switching over the leader's heels.
Great to see the Aga Khan's wonderful stayer Vazirabad take out the G2 Prix Vicomtesse Vigier for the third time. A stout hearted horse, if ever there was one. Scroll down on the link below. https://www.equidia.fr/articles/analyse/dimanche-a-parislongchamp-r1c7-vazirabad-puissance-trois
Wagnerian's Japanese Derby win. Had to sit deep early as he drew wide. No17. Black, wellow shoulders, blue sleeves and pink cap.
Gott, oh Gott, oh Gott, what an epic harness racing post this one is, Cyc! Let's deal with the first heat, the scene of all the carnage. Bold Eagle had the biggest thorn up his honourable ass ever, a severe case of the dreaded Swedish heebie-jeebies. The champion trotter had no intention of going to work at all, and had decided to report sick long before getting to the track? Final comment, that bloody commentator in this heat. God Almighty! Last comment on the 'Final', had I had a bet would have lost equally honourable ass on Propulsion, but it would have been all Bold Eagle's fault!
Argentine race fans must have been truly proud of their hero Calidoscopio. His runs in the 2012 Breeders' Cup Marathon and the 2013 Brooklyn Handicap were sensational.
Justify wins the Triple crown! He has looked a beast all season but beating Gronkowski under 2l, was a comfy win mind, any good chaps?
Probably the best 3yo on the planet Justify, not as explosive as American Pharoah but he just gets it done, no one can go with him early and he just grinds them down, amazing to win the triple crown after only making his debut in February. Was 37 years before American Pharoah done it and because this is so soon after it doesnt seem as big but you need to be a great horse to do it.
Cyc, what's this Redkirk Warrior like? Runs at Royal Ascot Saturday 23rd June - 16:20 Ascot: Diamond Jubilee Stakes (Group 1) Surely Redzel would have had a better chance
Redkirk Warrior is some kind of horse Ron. He's a GB bred horse who had just the two wins from his only two starts there, both over 2000m. He was then bought by Mr M B Lee, Miss Y C J Tam and raced in Hong Kong where he failed at G1 level at middle distance. He was then transfered to one of the premier stables in Australia, the Hayes, Dabenick team where was sent sprinting for the first time. It proved the making of him. He's straight track specialist. Loves Flemington. He's won the Newmarket the last two years and seems the type who'll like the testing 1200m races in the UK. Blue and White, Red cap.
The 2200m G1 Takarazuka Kinen was run last weekend in Japan. The winner earned a walk up start to the G1 Breeder's Turf at Churchill Downs in November. The race was taken out by Mikki Rocket. No 4, white, red stars, black cap.
Last Sunday the mighty champion Bold Eagle made it three G1 Prix Rene Balliere wins on the bounce. He made the star studded race a one act affair.
The Prix Les Sables d'Olonne over 2775m. The first three home Bird Parker, Valko Jenilat and Amiral Sasha all started off the back row. The driver of Valko Jenilat went his charge to the front with a lap to run, looking to take the sting out of the field. Bird Parker chased him down in the run home. Bird Parker is in the blue, yellow cap and striped sleeve. Valko Jenilat red with white striped sleeve. Amiral Sasha all dark blue.
It looks like the French might have another future trotting star in the ranks. He's won 7 of his last 9. The four year old Earl Simon made a one act of the G3 Prix du Louve a fortnight ago. He's drawn wide, No 12 and in the gold colours. He's taken to the front and gives nothing else a chance.
Freddy Head looks to have a decent filly on his hands. With You wins the G1 Prix Rothschild at Deauville yesterday. She'sin the white and sits outside the leader.
Canada’s reigning Horse of the Year Pink Lloyd scored yesterday in the G3 Vigil Stakes, at Woodbine. He started at 2-5 and sat deep early. No 6, yellow & blue.
The $175,000 Grade 2 Royal North Stakes at Woodbine, a race for fillies and mares 3 years and older, went to Way To Versailles who snatched the race right on the line. No 6, red and black.
There's a smart "machine" starting to appear on the Australian scene. His name is Nature Strip. He was taken to Adelaide for the Listed Lightning Stakes over 1050m. He rumbled over the last 600m in an amazing 33.27 and was eased to the line.
