We should never of got relegated that year. Our squad should of been pushing for play offs not getting relegated. People like Hume, Fryatt, Clemence, Hendrie, Oakley, Stearman, McAuley, Kisnorbo, Henderson, Howard, Campbell.
Unfortunately, the relegation came as a result of years of mismanagement from managers, chairmen and directors. The 2007/08 season is one that will always haunt me. From the way Allen was allowed to sign players from YouTube clips, to the way Megson came and then went, and finally to the collapse under Holloway. Not to mention the 4 offside goals against Preston, and the sheer pathetic performances against Burnley and Hull at the Walkers. Remember the Sheff Wed match at the Walkers? From 1-0 up, to 3-1 down. I remember sitting next to the Kop in the A+L stand, watching dozens of season tickets being thrown from the stands. That was the game we were relegated, not Stoke. I've not felt so deflated after a match, that one really hurt. As you say, we shouldn't have ever got to the relegation stage, but when the inevitable happened, it wasn't a shock.
But looking back now. That was the start of us with Nigel. He brought back up and made us a force and now Sven will take us to the next level
I could have given up that day we lost to Sheff Wed. In fact I had. Then I turned up at College on the Monday and some twat of a teacher told me we would 'do it' at Stoke. He was Scottish and reminded me of one of those charismatic, inspirational Scottish managers like Shankly or Lambert. And I started to believe again. ****er. Wasn't Laczko playing in the Europa League last season or something? He probably wasn't a bad player at all, just came at the wrong time. A number of those players have gone onto better things.
Yeah i remember watching Zsolt Laczko play against Liverpool either in the champs league or europa league for debrecen(Or something like that)
Nobodys has mentioned- Danny Tiatto - Australia 1995 - 2005 = 23 caps Joey Guðjónsson - Iceland 2001 - 2007 = 34 caps
