Don roper was a winger ex Arsenal I think, didn't play too many for us as he was probably past his best by the time he got to us. Just out of interest......didn't Martin chivers get his call up while playing for us, didn't Ted Macdougal get a cap as well while with us?
No, I was impressed by your list of former internationals. Then when you think about it there is probably another list just as long of players that were missed off you original list. As I said before makes you proud to be a Saint don't it!!!!!
Thai........Although there is a fair list showing the internationals that played for their country while a Saints team member.....at a guess there is another list just as long of players that played for their country which is not on that list. No I am not going to go down the route of "mines bigger than yours etc" To be fair I think you have to agree on the international player front we beat you hands down. It is also true that Saints are right up there with the best of clubs that have supplied players for their respective countries. Certainly in the top twenty although I would offer that it is more likely the top dozen or so. We have always had a good relationship with the Canaries. Not to mention the bloody good games of football between the clubs. I have not spoken to any Saint that was not pleased at your clubs promotion, nor any, that do not wish you well in the daunting task ahead. It would be nice to see you up there, the season after next. That as they say is in the hands of the gods. Good luck Canaries keep your powder dry until we can join you!!
As I said in the opening post I have no intention of turning this in to a competition between our two clubs. Without doubt you have had far more international players (so far we have come up with 42) but before I started this thread on your board (and others) I did not really sit back and think about how many international players any team had, was mostly for information and a bit of fun. A good opportunity for older supporters to remember better days, which will come back for you soon I am sure. Thanks for the kind words, it's true we have always had a decent relationship with Saints fans and some of the games have been just mad. I hope you guys can get get back to the PL, you have a good foundation to build on as things stand
