No, since either way the Narrative will be it's because RUSSIA BAD - or, just as likely, how fans would've turned up in droves if England was awarded the tournament...as if the swathes of empty seats during most Euro '96 matches were something people imagined.

Yes, it's that time of the season again, where everything stops and the fans just hope that none of their team's players get injured.
International friendly matches. Great.
Our first relevant tie is Denmark v Panama on Thursday. Strange choice for the land of bacon.
Perhaps they see it as some sort of warm-up for their Peruvian opponents in Group C of the upcoming World Cup?
Christian Eriksen will probably play both that and their match the following Tuesday against Chile. Both are home games, thankfully.
Friday sees the bulk of the fixtures with Germany v Spain probably being the pick of the bunch in terms of quality.
England visit the Netherlands, as both sides wonder where all of their good players went.
France v Colombia kicks off last and will see Hugo Lloris and a top heavy squad welcome Davidson Sanchez to Paris.
Saturday's odd highlight is at Windsor Park, where Northern Ireland take on Heung-Min Son and his fellow South Koreans.
England's U21 side also take on their Romanian counterparts and Winks, Walker-Peters and Onomah all make the squad.
Next Tuesday has a packed schedule and there are a few fairly big friendlies to pick from.
Russia v France, Germany v Brazil, England v Italy and Spain v Argentina catch the eye, but there's another oddity to look out for.
Colombia v Australia might sound like a nightmare trip for our young centre-back, but it's just down the road at Craven Cottage, for some reason.
Should save a lot of European-based players thousands of miles of flights, I guess.

Australia quite often play their overseas friendlies at either Loftus Road or Craven Cottage. They have so many players scattered around Europe its just easier. Wonder if a certain T.Cahill will get game time he isn't currently at Millwall being the reason he went there.
He's in the slightly oversized squad. Ex-Spurs academy player Massimo Luongo's in there, too. Carved out a decent career for himself.
That's because he's a good player with a good attitude. I believe he's captain at QPR.

Wouldn't it make more sense to carry on with club football and finish the season two weeks earlier to give those players who will actually feature at the World Cup more time together in preparation when it matters?

There's no place for you in football admin with a sensible idea like that.
Just remember, if a Portuguese or Greek clogger breaks Salah's metatarsal in the next week, don't lower yourselves to the levels of Saltypool supporters by gleefully revelling in it while demonstrating your ignorance of the offside rule or how kicking somebody in the penalty area is a foul.

I'm afraid the gospel according to St Scouse points out that God is Omnipresent. Hence, it is impossible for a Loserpool player to dive, because God will always be there to impede him, and of course, God will always be in a position to play the Loserpool player onside.
Whilst I agree with the judgement of the players, the obvious question is what players should be in that aren't? If he picked only half decent players we'd pick about 12 of them. And 3 would be keepers.

If Southgate was brave enough to open his eyes to the championship there’s a few there who easily deserve a chance along with a few in the Prem.
